How to get 280-300bhp?

Featured Replies

Hi, just signed up to the forum and already posted this in the 'New' section but thought I might get more info in this section. Anyway, I'm interested in buying a VAG car with a bit of power (and space) and the Octavia vrs looks a good buy.

However, how easy are they to tune? I have heard Jabbasport can take the power up to 220bhp relatively easily for about

i think its not that much harder.think its a case of fitting a KO4,injecters and a remap and your basicly there.

IHI or GT28 turbo conversion 2K - 3K depending on tuner

or E05 turbo if you can find one

Well, I had a look at the tuning guide, but all it said was that remapping etc would give increased power from Jabbasport. There was no indication of price or amount of power increase.

So, to reach 280+ bhp would I definitely need a bigger turbo, or just larger injectors and remap? By the way is a K04 a turbo? Sorry, I probably sound a bit ignorant here.

So I'm looking at spending around 2-3 grand to get this figure, is that about right?

Any help much appreciated.

Tris

Your car comes with a K03 as standard, K04 is just a bit bigger (I think the 225bhp engines come with one) - You'd be looking at 280 maximum with this, but if you change the turbo why not get a much bigger one which can cope with the pressures required to run 300bhp that much easier?

By the way is a K04 a turbo?

yep

octy vrs/180 TT=K03s turbo

Leon cupra/225 TT=K04 turbo

:)

:P Beat you, although yours was a much more concise answer. :D

Sorry, did you mean that K03 can do 280 or the K04? I have about a 10 grand budget and I'm looking at spending around 8 on the car, leaving me a bit spare!

K03 about 240-250 and KO4 around 300 i think but not 100% sure :)

With EIGHT grand to spend though, I say go for the GT28 turbo - DaveU got a solid 350bhp with it at a recent rolling road. With some other mods (which you'll have change for, from your 8k ;)) you could push 400 easy.

K03s - 220 (or more on certain rollers it seems)

K04 - 270-280

buy a cupra R, S3 or 225 TT with a remap +- 270 Bhp, FMIC, exhaust and CAI, you looking at high 280's. Or cheaper option ibiza cupra with kv04 and above mods will be a real little monster.

IP have quoted me under 2k for an E05 fully installed giving me about 300bhp :)

If you want 300 (max!) i would look at the E05 turbo. If you want more (or think you might do in the future!) I would look at GT28 or IHI turbo kits! If you go for one of the latter, your budget of 8-10k is about right to spend on modifications to get figures >300bhp (inc suspension/brakes etc)

Yeah, Bengie's right. I have 10k in total. Still, IP sound interesting. 300bhp for 2 grand!

Oh!

A bit more tricky that one...

You might get a very early high mileage vRS (6k ish on Autotrader) and go the E05 route... Maybe better to buy an already modded one - it will certainly be quite a challenge go get a proper 300 geegees out of 10k including the car!

I very much doubt you will get 300bhp from a straight swap to an EO5. To get those sort of figures you are looking at an IHI or GT28. To get the best out of an EO5 you will need 2L engine and a custom built exhaust manifold, the standard one just won't flow enough. If my memory serves me correctly IP do an EO5 kit fitted for

Agree with Des. Anything over 300 & you need to consider Internals, Rods, Pistons, Exhaust valves etc.

A;so with FWD you will need to mod the Diff to stand a chance of using 300+ Horsies, Then theirs the Clutch & so it goes on.

Personally I would spend a bit more to get a really nice RS, with the new one due shortly & deallers having spent the last few months knocking out new versions of the old model for really cheap prices the market will soon have loads of good s/hand cars for good prices. Then Get a Custom Remap, Decent Exhaust & front mounted Intercooler, Upgrade the Brakes & you should have a good reliable 250 bhp car

think you miss read his post Jason, he has 10 to spend 8 on the car leaving him with approx 2k change to do the mods, TBH i dont thikn that is enough to achive 280bhp from an octy

600-800 on new turbo

600-700 on FMIC (must have to cool down the new bigger turbo)

400-500 on remap

+ fitting if its at jabba that

sorry, IP have quoted me that but didn't think about the fact i have already changed bits

if your looking at buying an octavia and modding it to get 300bhp thenwhy a vRS??

go get yourself an elegance 1.8T, cheaper to start with and the same engine. seeing as your planning on changing the trbo anyway you'll be changing the brakes/suspension etc anyway s why pay extra in the first place?

Four Wheel drive is also a good idea for all that power.

I happen to be selling mine, already with a Jabba remap!
