1.4 TDI tuning.

Featured Replies

As title, how tunable are these little beauties?

Ive been suprised from day 1 how nippy it is for a 1.4, and ive looked around a bit at remaps ect.

Since my wife now has a new 1.4mpi fabia i see this as an oppurtunity to tinker with the dirty diesel  :D .

The mark1 remaps well. Not done a mark2.

Was the mk1 a 3pot? Might be the same engine, I have no idea :p.

Also mine is the 80bhp version if it helps :)

Yeah same engine. I estimated around 95-100bhp.

Would there be a noticeable improvement on a +20bhp increase?

Yup :)

I've been reading up on a few options and the bhp can go up to 110 with a chip unit and most remaps are offered at around the 105bhp- 110bhp mark, and there doesn't seem to reports of clutch problems or prematurely failing turbos.

I'm looking to get a map done myself, but another years no claims will be handy and setting up a new insurance policy with the mod on will be better than adding it to my current one as it ups it by 50%.

Aye looks good, im in the same boat, im 25 in may so premium will hopefully go down, and then on next renewal hopefully ill have another +1 years no claims, i worked it out on a comparison site a few days ago and i think it was going to work out ~£2 more a month than what im paying currently, so looking good :D

what year is the car?

Mines an 08 and even after talking to Adrian Flux the car was going to be £10 more expensive a month with the tune as it stands so +1 year will hopefully help.

In response to year mine is 58' plate :). And I think shark offer a 100bhp remap so will probably go for that as it's cheaper too!

Do shark use a dyno to do the testing?
