New wishbones

Featured Replies

Hi all, I need to replace my front wishbones as there on way out and were mot advisory. Where is gonna be best to buy from? Not really interested in polybushing just want them done right at a cheap price.

I've seen these on ebay if there any good?

Are you going to keep the car for any length of time?  I would advise on spending probably double that on Lemforder etc if youre keeping hold if it.

Yep agreed, cheap wishbones are a false economy, seen many on this site rue fitting crap.

Everyone goes for Lemforder. I had a pair fitted last year, they're still perfect. And not that expensive, well south of a hundred quid for a pair...

yeah noticed the lemforder from eurocarparts/carparts4less. Best to go for them then?

stupid question, do i need to buy 2 wishbones from eurocarparts or is 1 a pair?

What exactly was the issue with them? If its just the bushes they can be replaced cheaply and easily. As well as the ball joints as well. If cost is an issue that's your best option imo.

the issue i had is offside/nearside front suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement on my MOT. I was told rather then just do the bushes i may aswell do full wishbones, but looking at eurocarparts its gonna be over 100 for both sides and ball joints. I dont just wanna do the bushes then i need to do wishbones then in 6 months time.

Get the r32/tt bushes fitted to your current arms they are a solid bush that don't have the c shaped cutout sections the standard bush has so should be less flexible and less likely to split

Whatever you do though buy good quality parts I did my polo with cheap arms and had to do them again the next year and that only had a weedy 60bhp

Wishbones don't go the bushes do mainly the rear ones hence fit the uprated version could do front bush and ball joint aswell but I know personally I won't bother unless I find fault in them when they are off the car

cheers will just get the bushes then. What do i look for on eurocarparts so i make sure i get the right stuff?

As mentioned the Audi TT bush might be your best option as they last a lot longer than standard. They do make the ride a little harder but not extreme.

That's what i used highly recommended.

Would it be best to change both front and rear bushes for the tt ones while I'm there?

The chances are it'll only be the big rear bush that's worn as it's that one that takes most of the punishment. The front bush is fixed in place doesn't move much the rear one flexes and allows the wishbone to move up and down.

Any chance of directing me to right place? I noticed on a different thread that I can get febi wishbones with attached ball joints for £70 delivered. Would it be better to get them or will just changing the bushes to tt ones be better?

Either your local TPS your nearest skoda dealer or failing those i have seen them on ebay. I'll be honest i don't know what the febi ones are like a few people here say they are ok but i don't know. I just order genuine parts from my nearest TPS i wouldn't know what make they are tbh. But £ 70 seems cheap. You could try them see what theyre like.

Thanks, and there the solid TT bushes?

The larger ones do not have voids, so yes

Cheers. Any idea which I'm after from eurocarparts? Seems like both bushes total half the price of eBay but there's different rear bushes and I wanna make sure I order right first time?

These are the two audi tt wishbone rear bushes you'll need. I've just looked on eurocarparts and they are £10.81 each but there will be a shipping fee to add to that. So these two here off the bay will work out about the same price.

That all I need? Is it not worth doing the other bush on the front? Been quoted £20 each side to fit; that seem reasonable? As I wouldn't have a clue what I'm doing

£20?  dont these need a press?  That sounds cheap

It depends how far you want to go with it buddy. The wishbone needs removed first to see what ll be needed. Worst case is both front and rear bushes are worn and play in the ball joints but the front bush rarely wears. If you can't do the work yourself then it's an issue of labour charges to fit new bushes/ball joints removal and refitting of wishbones. I personally would fit new genuine ball joints and audi tt bushes to your wishbones rather than buy cheap second ones that'll rattle to bits in 6 months.
