Derv Tech - Opinions

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Had a search on the forum, but didn't come back with much!

Looking to see if anyone on here has went to ##!!##h for work? Only seem to have a page on Facebook and not an actual website, and according to users on the page, they seem highly rated! But figured it would be good to get an opinion on here....

I was going to book in to Darkside for the budget hybrid upgrade, but ##!!##h do a 250bhp option, with uprated clutch included drive in drive out for £2000.
I know at Darkside you're getting the experience and expertise, but are ##!!##h up there aswell?

As it obviously it works out a fair bit cheaper when you factor in the uprated clutch!

Cheers :)

They are mapping my car.  It has never ran so well.  There is some wizardry in their mapping, I swear. :D

That's good to hear! So if their mapping is anything to go by, they're good at what they do.... :D

Yeah, I have yet to test the mechanical side of things but I am sure they have that covered. :)  I just can't believe compared to my previous mapping how good theirs is, and I am still only running on diesel.  Yet to get all the goodies transferred back on like water injection and the nitrous.

Plan is to have my summer holiday down that way and get the car put in for the 250bhp option, so can only see if there is any more response on here before taking it down. I wish it'd be running somewhere near your power, but trying to be semi sensible with money :D  :D

Yeah - Derv tech were very pleased to be able to map my car as they knew the level of tune it was at / what it was capable of - They also heavily criticised my previous mapping.  Can't blame them really, it wasn't special. :D

They built my map up from literally a totally "less than base vRS" performance base, and right up through to the current bonkers 2.8 bar boost map it has now.  There should still be more to come from the car though.

It speaks for itself the fact they weren't happy with the previous map, and have obviously done such an awesome job on the car now!

I'm sure their mechanical side will be up there with the mapping side of things then! :)

Cheers dude! Exactly what i wanted to hear about them.... Good stories!

To be fair my mapping wasn't even done by a company, it was some random bloke in Europe.  But I can understand your viewpoint.  But when I was told about the parameters being pushed on the old mapping, it was quite disheartening.

Hybrid turbo power!!

This Fabia came to us after the owner had spent a fortune having his car mapped elsewhere, blowing a turbo, fitting a hybrid and having serious overboost issues which the other tuner couldn't fix.

After a conversation with us, the customer made it clear that while making over 200hp was important, the main thing was to stop the turbo hitting well over 30psi boost and make the thing safe to drive.

We did some data logging of the car, and wrote a base file for it. This immediately cured the overboost problem, and made the car really drivable with less smoke.

We could see from the logs, the car had a lot more to give, so we brought the boost up to a safe, controlled level of 1.7bar and mapped fuel to suit.

We had to keep the torque sensible low down, so as not to destroy the customers stock clutch, but once past 3000rpm we were able to really open it up, making a safe, reliable 310lbft and 205hp.

This is the kind of thing I meant Jason.

A tuner that can't even write a base file?

OK, it's probably true, but just looks overly exagerated and as I said sell your work on how good it is.  Not what a shower of poo the compettion is.

I am probably more sensitive to this as I've dealt with a lot of tuners and I am personally sick and tired of everyone feeling the need to big themselves up at the expense of others.

Isn't a base file the same as a generic map which any tuner should be able to do?

A base file can be what ever you want it to be.

Theirs many ways to write a map for a diesel. What's right or wrong is the mappers personal opinion. One method for one may not be the same method as another. But same end result.

##!!##h................... Hummmmmmmmmmmm..............................................

magical numbers come outta there RR
