Superb engine bay ?

Featured Replies

Hi all

( hope I've done this right asking my first question)

Put a deposit down on a superb estate, but while looking under the the bonnet you would have thought it's been re sprayed appeared blackish on the under side ( cars petrol blue colour ) sales man insisted it hasn't, all panel joins look ok, gonna have another look when I go to pick it up

Is this the way it should be as I looked at a nissan x trail and that didn't appear to have been painted in the engine compartment when I thought of buying one of them

Any info would be great

Thanks

Stephen

I wouldn't worry about it.  Just a cost saving exercise really on Skoda's part.  I think most of ours are the same.  The panels that are not visible are not given huge attention.  There was a time when everything was sprayed but not anymore as it all saves money.  You may also notice non-metallic paint is used on these less noticeable areas as well - again it saves a few quid and some time.

This came up on a previous thread as well

EDIT: Just realised this is probably a used model you are referring to, so maybe have it checked out but they above comment can apply as well.  Base coats/non-metallic and different paints have been used on the undersides where the exterior colour is different
