What do you want?

Quiet and subtle = cone in a box works fine

Noise and turbo flutter = s2000 filter

got a foam filter atm dunno wither to stick with that or try sumin different

Decent cone filter, Jetex was nice on my fabia. Got s2000 on my Octy, doesn't sound that good.

..but it performs rather better as an air filter than a musical instrument so working as intended.

S2000 filter is perfect for your application Steve, cheap, quick, easy and effective.

It's a paper cone filter....not really ideal exposed though is it.

I've got a Jabbasport cone in a box filter for my gt1752.

Exposed to what? The inside of a box?

You do realise the S2000 cone doesn't fit inside an airbox when fitted to a fabia or Octy etc....

As nice as a black and red S2000 filter looks (if you can get one that colour!), I don't fancy a paper one due to them getting dirty and not being as easy to clean as a foam filter.

I've got a Pipercross foam one on my 2260 setup Kev. Seems ok with it and sounds nice. Job done!

Dude, you don't clean them, you chuck them in the bin and fit a new one, they're disposable.

It's easy enough to put one in a cylindrical container with a CAF at one end and Steve has moved the battery already so he has tons of room, so who cares what colour it is, he's fitting it for performance and reliability, not decorating his bedroom with it!

Personally I'd rather have a washable foam filter that I didn't have to replace unless the foam was knackered...

I agree. If you want a paper disposable one, you might as well stick with OEM paper panel in the airbox. Being an open cone, it's more exposed to water/oil and muck. An oiled cotton or foam filter work far better in that environment. Even the airbox will offer some resistance to oil/water (unless it gets sucked in through grille).

Steves going to be running too much power for the standard airbox, try reading the thread.

Washable foam filters are terrible filters, they allow far too much fine grit through, since they're terrible filters there really isn't much point using them as filters at all is there.

Surely somthing like a piper cross panel filter or k&n panel filter will be suitable and safe.

I'm sure there are people on here running well over 200 BHP and still using OEM paper filters.

I'm sure there are people on here running well over 200 BHP and still using OEM paper filters.

I'm also sure a lot of people running over 200bhp have had the oem filter sucked down into the turbo intake pipe.

Don't want to say figures since I don't know what he wants, but I'm sure with a big GTB turbo and uprated injectors + a lot more he will be going for 300bhp not 200. Just what I think anyway :D

Fair enough, All I was doing was comparing a paper cone filter to a paper panel one. I didn't realise just how much extra power the turbo etc would make.

Probably the best solution is a washable cone with a cold air feed or even better an enclosed cone filter. I'm not sure what Jason uses in his Mongral, I have a feeling he has (or had) twin enclosed filters, but I may be wrong.

I will be running jabba sport cone in a box on my gtb2260 when it decides to start lol

Had my Jabbasport cone in a box filter with a pd160 intake for a little bit now, seems fine and good value for money imo.

S2000 filter with a bit of boxing off and a cold air feed gets my vote. Or design and make a tube for it as a DIY CAI. Though where you'd get thinner walled tube of that size....

If you are fairly handy with the spanners how about adapting a Golf Mk5 R32 airbox to fit the Fabia?

This has a few positives:

1. It will let you run a paper filter and the filters are easily available

2. It's huge so shouldn't strangle your turbo (filter size is 346mm x 223mm), it was designed for a 250bhp car

3. It looks OEM

4. It's original, I've not seen another Fabia with one

Many r32 airboxs going cheap?

Many r32 airboxs going cheap?

Lots get crashed, bound to be a steady trickle available, or get one from a V6 Audi, not all mods HAVE to be pikey mods, some people have jobs and money etc.
