Disaster, the cam belt tensioner failed on my 2.0ltr 16v tdi today, only about 50,000 miles since full belt, water

pump and pullies change.. It happened at low speed low revs pulling away and the engine stopped. The cam belt did n't break but must have jumped a tooth or two. I'm hoping that the damage is n't too bad as there was n't any nasty sounds. Will keep you posted.

My cam tensioner broke not three days after having mine done back in August / September on the way to Castle Combe.

Got lucky and evaded any damaged. Hope for the same luck for you.
