Octavia vRS 230 - what is it?

Featured Replies

Am I alone in being confused about the RS 230? The Skoda press release says:

"The ŠKODA Octavia RS 230 is the first ŠKODA to feature – as series-standard – an electronically controlled differential front axle lock for dynamic cornering."

This statement suggests proper hardware - a electronic locking differential - whereas most of the magazine articles have gone on to say this is only an ABS based braking system - like XDS which all VRSs already have.

Does anyone know whether a proper diff is planned? Otherwise, the special edition is only a mildly chipped standard engine.

One would assume it would be Škodas equivalent of Golf GTI PP... guess well have to wait and see if it is so.

Its covered in other threads but its basically the Golf PP mapping so an additional 10ps and the e-diff from the same vehicle.

It gets a slightly more aggressive body kit and there's apparently nicer seats and cabin trim too and all the press shots have so far shown the Extreme 19" alloys also.

AH well, that puts paid to any chance of a 280 bhp AWD vRS anytime soon. :(

All that speculation and it comes down to a tiny increase in power and an e-diff !

Is an e-diff like an e-cig?

You inhale on a small device and pretend you've got something you haven't?

Must be inhaling something Bryan to pay the crazy price for the mk3!!

*tongue in cheek humour before it upset the sensitive mk3 owners*
