Hellooo,

Been looking at some mk2 vrs's and I much prefer the front bumper to the one on my monte, with the honeycomb grille rather than slats. Could I buy one to fit? Or is the only option to buy honeycomb and modify mine?

I fitted a vRS bumper to my Elegance, and it's fine

Only problem with doing it to a Monte will be the black arch trims will have nothing to line up to, so it might look a bit odd

Yeah I thought that but my plan is to colour code the trim eventually, where did you buy yours mate?

Why would you want to colour code the trim. It would just look like a vrs with bulged wheel arches. Cant you buy a vrs bumper and just pull off the trim of the monte bumper?

Don't think so because the paint underneath will be terrible

I have to say I wouldn't have done it to a Monte

The whole point of a Monte is the black trim, and it all fairs in from the splitter, to the bumper, to the arch

Take part of it away and it could look a disaster, but each to their own

I couldn't get a Vrs at the time due to insurance (I was 17 when I got it) I think providing the trim is colour coded it would look okay, I think I might just swap out the slats for honeycomb instead though

I think you would have to cut the front lower grille to suit as pics below show.

 

The edges of the VRS grille goes down and the montes go up.

 

 

Turn it upside down if that don't work. Find a good bodyshop that can plastic weld and plastic weld the honeycomb grill into the monte one.

You can buy after market ones from maxton design that look pretty cool

You could go classic Fab Mk1 VRS and get a Leon cupra front splitter to go under the VRS bumper, or does it not fit on a Mk2 very well?

But that wouldn't matter, because you won't need that bumper anyway. Rip the trim off that bumper and stick it on to the VRS one and you should be fine I would have thought.
