GTB rolling road day... the results!

Featured Replies

Not mine ::)

Great results. I remember back in '05 most tuners said the injectors maxed out at 200bhp! How things move on!

The thing is most so called 'tuners' just do what I do when john sends me a map, plug in my laptop and load it!!! :)

Not many 'tuners' actually map there selves ;)

If you think 7bhp and 19lb ft is worth near £1000 for a tubular then yeah the argument is over!!! :)

But talking of a waste of money the only car there today on uprated nozzles ran less power than Southys on standard injectors, and the smoke was awful!!!!!

Darkside mapped,gtb2260 on darkside tubular manifold :)

On one of the 2 runs it did make more than me, only .3bhp mind you, so that put it at 264.1bhp compared to my 263.8bhp. He was also only running 2.3bar, so the potential is there for more power from nozzles, they do tend to hold the power better after it peaks from the graphs silky showed us of his polo, where as ours seem to drop off.

And the video.

Anyone noticed peak torque figures were very high up the rev range...

It was great to get lambda readings from the day. Its a little pet hate of mine when dyno days don't connect it up or want extra £ if you ask for it. So hates of to Group B for that. The results from the lambda is making me look at fuelling past 4000 rpm. Even with the standard map.

We also managed to get a boost reading from Silky's car and fuelling from Alex's which is very interesting compared to what it makes on the road.

Yes my peak torque was at way higher revs than it should have been on the graph. Also the graph showed it revs to 5600rpm. It doesn't.

I thought the venue was spot on. I was sold when I saw how much food they put on just for us ha ha!

I'll definitely go back there again :)

As for torque, that sounds about right from how it feels on the road. The car genuinely drives more akin to a turbo petrol motor rather than a diesel in my opinion...

Going by the videos of southy's car, it really shows how good the mapping is from john, that it can run over 260hp and is less smoky than most people's stage 1 map :D

I agree with Alex, the torque does feel max around 3.5k when being driven on the road.

I agree George, its a testament to John's mapping skills to produce those kinda figures and produce small amounts of smoke.

Agree venue was great. Was shocked by the amount of food.

I don't think that smoke from Steven's golf was that bad tbh!!!

The golf is quicker than mine mid-top end revs, so the 4bhp difference on the dyno isn't anything like what it is on the road as the golf holds the power for a wider spread of rpm

I got the same spread of power when I had the polo RR on nozzles the power is held for a longer rpm range

All in all it was a good day, good to put names to faces

Not 100% convinced the dyno operator knew what he was doing...............?

I know vagcom shows mine making 2.0bar@2400rpm where as the dyno plot has it 2.0bar@3400rpm?????

Hey, moar RPM's = moar BHP's so you're all winners!  :D

He set the RR up wrong for mine at first (so we think!), as my graph read to over 6000rpm! However, power was only 242bhp at that. Put it back on at the end and I'd miraculously gained 14bhp and 56ft/lbs!!
