GTB rolling road day... the results!

Featured Replies

Had a great day and met some new faces today on our rolling road day at Group B Motorsport. I even finally met the mythical creature that is John 'the mapper' Jones! ;)

I'm sure we're all eager to post up the results for everyone to see, so I'll set the ball rolling...

256bhp & 356ft/lbs - Xman GTB2260vk @ 2.5bar of boost; mapped by Hidden Power; standard nozzles

Had a little hiccup the first time I went on the rollers and the car had to go on again. Very pleased with the results though - testament to John's fantastic mapping though

238hp and 325lbft here.

Slight anomoly with my graph but happy none the less. Had an awesome drive home! Dry roads and semi slicks ;)

Mapped by John aswell

Great day.

135bhp and 240lbsft from a stock ASZ.

Mapped by VAG :) Well I switched the smoke map from being MAF based to MAP sensor based like the BLT engines. But that doesn't effect the performance.

Nice to see a dyno day where they don't charge you extra for lambda readings.

239bhp 350lb ft from mine :)

GTB1756, again mapped to perfection by Faboka ;)

So Alex and coskev both running standard injectors?

So Alex and coskev both running standard injectors?

yeah, just different turbos.

Couple of cars did over 260bhp on standard injectors with GTB2260's on tubular manifolds ;)

I just run 256 and 352lbs today!! 1756 running 2.2bar and a fair amount of smoke :) also mapped by John! Really please to say the least

GTB2260vk turbo on a darkside manifold, standard injectors, 263bhp and 375ft lbs

That blows the whole "240 bhp" limit for stock injectors.

Someone push them further and see what they can do! :D

John has pushed them as far as is safe with regards to duration.

I think these power levels are fantastic considering what people thought the limits were!

Good to know then, for future reference I think 260bhp will be the new limit then!

As Alex has stated these really are on the border line for stock nozzles due to running too long duration, the smoke.levels are certainly minimal also.

It was nice to see the difference between a cast manifold and a tubular running same turbo and mapped by the same person. Only 7bhp and 19ft lbs difference.

Liking these results, especially the ones on stock nozzles. :)

John is gonna do a comparison of mine and Southy's results next week. Plus I have a log taken from when it was on the rollers.

I'm hoping that he'll be able to explain where your extra power and torque came from.

I compared our graphs earlier Southy, and mine is at least 20bhp down at the same stages in the lower revs. However, at the top end, your power tails off much quicker, so I have a more spread power band.

Will post up a picture of the one graph I got given later...

So has that settled the argument about manifolds now?

Steve got slatted to death by several members pointing out whole loads of information on how diesels run, compressions and air flow... How it's all a big con and waste of money.

To be honest I don't think it does. Where Southy's peak figure is higher, mine has a better spread at high revs, but worse spread at lower revs.

Let John do some analysing next week and come back to us on it!

Shame I couldn't make it, like like I need a big turbo and go to John again for a proper map :D

My personal view. No difference. Many factors can come into play.

The difference between 256 and 263 on two different dyno runs is not statistically significant, it's well within error margins, dyno measurement is not an exact science. Generally when we develop an engine we make a number of runs and average them for a baseline figure, one run is largely meaningless.

If you think 7bhp and 19lb ft is worth near £1000 for a tubular then yeah the argument is over!!! :)

But talking of a waste of money the only car there today on uprated nozzles ran less power than Southys on standard injectors, and the smoke was awful!!!!!

Darkside mapped,gtb2260 on darkside tubular manifold :)

Ouch :D

Sorry if I held you up on the way home Joe, blame John, he robbed my car of 50bhp LOL!!!

I know we're not environmentalists here but that is just shameful and an utter waste of fuel, some seriously bad mapping or a major problem there.
