230 Bhp Vrs

Featured Replies

Maybe on forum, but haven't seen it.

Auto Express, shows a 230 bhp special Vrs due in June.

0.1 sec 0-62 and 1MPH faster with new front diff and extras.

Can't see that its worth the predicted extra £1000.

Wonder if the configurator has a sister, could be popular going down as often as it does.

  • Well here she is !  Over the moon with it.   Missing roof rails though and have been told that they should have been there and to await a bulletin from skoda about them ( mind you i like it without

Been discussed in multiple threads - try '230' or special edition or similar in the search box :)

Seems to be hundreds of pictures of the superb, superb at Geneva but none of the vrs 230. Has anyone seen any pics other than the 2 out there already of the rear and interior?

I've been digging lots - I don't think its unveiled yet...

I mean real photos at Geneva rather than renderings. It looks like a good candidate for a 'spot the difference' puzzle with a standard VRS!

Kinda think if you were buyer a vRS TSI ths summer you'd be silly not to get it but, I can't see its worth upgrading a current vRS TSI to

Different alloys, different rear bumper/diffuser, dark headlamps, different interior cabin trim and supposedly nicer sports seats. e-diff as well as the 10ps extra power. :)

I thought it was supposed to have a different front bumper. Looks ok to me if the ride height stays the same. Would like to see some more pics to help the game of spot the difference.

front bumper is the same, and I see no differences in the interior on the press renderings.

What did catch my eye though, is the mention of "specifically adjusted silencers" for a sporty sound. Would this one have real sound, instead of the sound generator?

EDIT: I do see a few more differences: no more fake carbon fibre in the interior, and the headlights are black inside.  Also, the wheels seem to sit slightly further outside on the twitter pic.

I think the cill kick plates are a bit more colourful, otherwise it would be impossible to tell the VRS and VRS 230 apart!

...apart from the headlamps, rear bumper, standard alloys, badging.....;)

That's all i can find so far..  I guess its not the most interesting thing at Geneva for the hacks.   :)

Lee's post above looks spot on, the wheels are black where "normal" extreme's aren't, BUT the diffuser at the rear looks SAME to me, but it looks like it has dark/black exhaust pipes, and it does have darker headlamps..

The most worthwhile additon will be the LSD, although 4WD would have been much nicer. VAG do not yet have a 220-230PS 4WD hot-hatch variant, so that definately would have filled a niche. This will be a Golf GTI PP clone with a few cosmetic add-ons to bump up the price.

They should have added 4WD or at least given the car ~260PS to grab attention. Pimping the wheels and light's doesn't do much for me.

Agree the 260PS engine would have been a better move, and would not have stepped on the toes of either the 300PS golf R estate or the 280PS Cupra ST.

TBH i don't think 220-230PS needs 4wd, although it aids traction it also adds weight which will offset any performance gain you'd have for the increased traction.

Q: are those brakes bigger?

Is this lower than a stock vRS?

Q: are those brakes bigger?

Nope, they look like standard VRS issue.

The only other thing I picked up on one website is that the 230 will have a lap timer - previously seen on the other special edition. Well spotted on the headlamps, wheels, etc. Shame there's not something a bit more exciting.
