Retro Fitting Front Fog Lamps

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever fitted front fog lamps in the bumper. Ive seen the price listed on the skoda web site of £171, a bit steep of course. Phoned the dealer and asked them about fitting them to my new Roomster, the dealer said they cant do it as it will involve cutting the bumper which will invalidate the bumper (utter tosh).

when we tried to do this on my dads zafira when i worked at vauxhall its not so much cutting but the panels are plastic welded in

get it wrong and its a new bumper

also if it did and i suspect it doesnt involve cutting the crash bar behind the bumper than that is ilegal

again when i was at vauxhall and the new corsa came out so gut wanted aftermarket reverse sensors fitted and according to the install guide they had to be a certain height to work which in turn would have involved drilling holes in the crash member behind it which you cant do

do you really need foglights ???

in all the years i have been driving cant say ive ever used them more than 5 times after i turned 19 and realised they did not give you a sporty look or extra 20bhp

by all means get your dremel out bro and have a go just use masking tape to mark the area

I would hazard a guess that the bumper element is probably relatively easy, as the fogs on the Roomster are mounted low down.

I suspect if you removed the grilles that are where the foglights would be, there'll be the mounting points etc there. I can't see Skoda moulding two different bumpers, that's what they have blanking grilles for.

IMHO the difficulty arises in the wiring back to the headlight switch on the dash.

If it were me attempting the retro fit, I'd be parking two Roomsters side by side (one with and one without fogs) and having a good look to confirm my thoughts above before buying parts etc.

That was my thoughts jonny5ive, itll be interesting if anyone has actually fitted them. I have fitted them in an astra, all the wiring and everything was there, all I needed to do was fit a relay in the correct socket and fit the switch. Yeah the headlamp combo switch looks like it could be a pain.

IIRC the switch comes out by pushing it in and rotating, I forget which way.

It would then be a case of replacing with a switch that has a fog light position, assuming the wiring is all in situ etc.

If I remember correctly the factory foglamp accessory kit includes everything you need to fit the lamps. Wiring loom, new head/fog switch etc but is it really worth it?
