Voice control on O3 VRS MY2015 Bolero

Featured Replies

Hello,

I do not know how, by accident, I didn't see the option of voice control when configuring the car and now I have a button on the steering wheel that doesn't do anything. Would anyone be able to help me enabling the voice control via VCDS or other, or do I need a module for that (for the price of 10 EUR that the option costs, I am thinking it's just software).

Thank you!

It switches on through infotainment settings. It's a standard feature

Are you talking about infotainment in VCDS or directly into the setup of the Bolero?

The Bolero manual available on-line certainly seems to suggest that Voice is a normal feature of Bolero.  See page 12 and onwards.

However - it also says:

"For some languages, there is no voice control available. The device indicates this fact via a text message that is displayed after setting the device language screen"

You mention Euros in your original post - which suggests you are not from the UK.  What language settings are you using?  Could that be the issue?

Unfortunately, while pressing the voice command button on the steering wheel, I get a "Voice command is not available" on the maxi dot. I have called the dealer asking about this and he told me that as far as he knows, it's an option while ordering the car -- confirmed by the online car configurator. I didn't find anything about it in the Bolero itself. The language of the car is English, bought and used in Romania.

I've tried opening the infotainment section with VCDS, but in the long coding area I get something along the lines "there is no help because the module is too new". I'm not really confident about checking and unchecking bits blindly.

Geordie, scouse and Brummy  :giggle:

Its crap and nothing I would personally miss myself. I wouldnt bother with it.

I agree with pipsyp, it's awful.

I tried to get the sat nav to navigate to home by voice, gave up after a couple of minutes and after it nearly phoned 2 contacts from my address book and did it manually on the Amundsen screen in about 20 seconds.

I would agree with others that it's not really worth the effort. It hasn't been too inaccurate for me (I've a very "standard" southern-english accent), but it is so SLOW in doing anything that it's really not a viable alternative.

I think for me it's two things: my mild OCD of having a button that does nothing and the other is handling the VCDS.

You have to learn the way IT talks and not it learning how YOU talk, bit annoying really. In the uk its part of the bluetooth plus option. I decided to tick that box but yet to see a phone signal improvement tbh

I'd love to be able to use the voice button to activate Siri on my iPhone! Any chance that could be accomplished via VCDS etc?

Are we talking about getting info via your phone is cr*p, or just everyday use of the hands free telephone function?

I'm mainly talking of using Siri for making calls and such, but having full "Siri Eyes Free" functionality would be great too.

is there a way to do it even if you say it's not good. just to try it

It's not, it's standard fit.

Being from Romania I lack the native accent impediment and when I talk it is more like the american accent, which I suppose the car expects.

The question remains: how can I activate voice control?

LE: You must imagine how stupid I feel when trying to give commands in another language to the car. I am more concerned about having a button on the steering wheel that does nothing than the need of having voice control.

Hello there!

Im form Bosnia, and Im having exactly the same issue with my car. I have Bolero with Canton, BT plus etc. Pushing the button on steering wheel I got only message "voice command is not available". Im using German as system language. Im using my phone very often while driving so this feature would be very helpful for making calls... Anyway, my work mates, who are having Skoda Rapid have no problems so far using this feature on their cars...

So, can this feature be set free or whatever via VCDS??

Sejo

Go into settings on the Bolero and switch voice commands on.You don't need VCDS

I Just Check and i Cant see it in settings (system Settings) on the bolero.
i only have  Sound, Screen , Time and date, language keypad ....... but no voice command :-(

I'm from Devon and it can't understand a  word I am saying to it. I went on a trip with a Northern Irish mate last week and it worked fine. He sounds like Ian Paisley so it was probably too scared to ignore him!

In my O3 RS I had Voice Control coded as Build in - the radio now asks for an activation code, not jet available from Soda-Dealer. Should be available by end of 2015. VW already sells those codes for their entertainment systems at about 100€.
