Right hand foot rest?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a right hand foot rest, ie, somewhere to rest my throttle foot when in cruise?  I know you can get them for l/h drive Yetis, but had little luck finding one for r/h drive Yetis.

Are you sure footrests are available for the throttle foot? I'm sure that all the footrests I've seen advertised (for LHD Yetis), have been for the resting 'clutch' foot.

If left foot rest are available for LHD you'd have thought right foot rest for RHD would be too.

If left foot rest are available for LHD you'd have thought right foot rest for RHD would be too.

Why? Your left foot routinely does nothing for extended periods, whereas your right foot is more active in the driving activity. Resting a clutch foot is normal, regardless of fitted options (in fact, with a DSG, the left foot is redundant, unless you left-foot brake). The right foot is always needed. I see no reason why something for LHD must automatically translate to RHD (although I do see why it might be nice during extended cruise control periods).

If left foot rest are available for LHD you'd have thought right foot rest for RHD would be too.

I can only assume this is a 'Tongue in cheek' post.

Perhaps Urrell has never driven a LHD car?

My wife thought that the pedals were "reversed".

My Polo RIGHT HAND DRIVE had a very sturdy RIGHT foot rest and with extended periods with cruise control I'd find it useful + it protects the carpet there.

But the LHD footrest that is advertised for the YETI ( ;) ) is for the resting clutch foot, ie on the left hand (foot) side of the left hand (foot) footwell.

I have never seen a footrest advertised for a LHD (or RHD) throttle foot, that is to say the right hand (foot) side of the left hand (foot) footwell (or the right hand (foot) side of the right hand (foot) footwell).

....on the left hand (foot) side of the left hand (foot) footwell..... the right hand (foot) side of the left hand (foot) footwell (or the right hand (foot) side of the right hand (foot) footwell).

Oh! the Hokey Cokey!

Move over, Bob!

Oh! the Hokey Cokey!

Well, that's what it's all about ...

Thank you for your entertaining posts :D , I'll take it that's a "no" then?

Cheers.

But there's not really enough space to put a footrest without it potentially interfering with normal throttle control.

Is it not easier just to rest your foot flat on the floor?

The Octavia II could be had with them in rhd (not much help to yeti owners)

My old Octavia had a footrest on both sides of the pedals, but the Yeti has less space to the right of the accelerator pedal and is not wide enough (for my size 11 shoes).

I'd really like one but doubt one is available. I've taken to resting my foot on the accelerator pedal while using CC as it's still near the brake pedal.

I always felt the Octavia's foot rest was too far away in an emergency and putting my right foot flat on the floor (in the Yeti) is comfortable but again too far from the brake pedal.

I rest mine against the inner wheel arch.

^ exactly -- simples!!

I rest mine against the inner wheel arch.

I would too but only the right of my foot is on the carpet and is uncomfortable, if it was about 2" wide it would be great and there is room for one as big as the left foot rest.

I can see me spending a bit of time in my workshop to see what I can come up with, probably using the same fixings that hold the carpets in place.

Please let me know how you get on.

I too currently rest my foot on the wheel arch, but I can envisage the arch getting marked after a while, that's why I was asking.

The cars not a museum/concourse piece otherwise it would be on stands etc - just drive and enjoy!!, Won't affect trade in value if marked, salesmen rarely look that closely!!

 just drive and enjoy!!,

That's exactly the reason for doing it.

try bending yer knee, -  use the floor!

I just leave my foot resting where it is, on the throttle. Unless you increase throttle pressure quite a lot the CC does it's thing.

Maybe, but who will see it?
