Got to love Walmart

Featured Replies

Well i'm currently out "working" in Virginia, and have just paid a trip to Walmart and picked up a few bits for OLAF and JERRY.

Has anyone used this before, what are your thoughts?

Particularly the DA polisher.

Oh...and not 100% sure if i'm going to use these, but it would be rude not too. 8 black and 1 grey.

Meguiars stuff seems to get good revies on here I think.

Out of interest, what did the polisher cost over there?

Hopefully your baggage allowance isn't maxed out? ;-)

that's less in $ than you'd pay in £ :o Current rate means it's ~ £35 in the US whereas they're ~ £65 here. Rip off Britain

I stopped buying 501's when they breached £50 here. I bet they're about $40 there :(

Voltage???

It connects to any drill chuck mate.

Ah, got it.

I thought it was a powered rotary polisher, not an attachment for a drill.

Hence, I was wondering if it was 110v, and not usable in UK.

I so nearly posted exactly the same thing. :giggle:

Done that numerous times, only problem is it's quite warm in Orlando!

They are, but sometimes Macys give you a pass for 11% off for being British.

But I do love Walmart, shame Asda doesn't get the same departments or ranges (although I can understand why we don't have the gun cabinets!)

I use the Meguiars clay bar, it's a great product, as is the rest of the range.

Meguiars is like "really keen amatuer" grade car care. But if it was from Walmart the price was probably good.

I hope you don't intend to take the aerosol cans in your luggage on an aeroplane. I think that might be a bad idea. Doesn't the pressure drop & the cold make them explode? I'd be inclined to double bag them just in case...

Do people not take stuff like deodorant on planes? Never been on a plane so don't now really.

Also what class would you put AutoGlym in? Sold widely to every Tom **** and Harry out there but also used by Aston, Jag and Morgan.

There will always be some people who will sneer at whatever anyone else uses; either it is cheap and mass produced, or far too overpriced and fancy.

I use everything from Astonish Glass Cleaner £1 from the, em, £ shop, Bilt Hamber, Angelwax and Autoglym.

As long as you have the basics to cover the important/essential jobs, and it cleans your vehicle to a standard you are happy with/aiming for, that's all that matters.

Autoglym is in the enviable position of being able to be sold in Halford on 3 for 2 promotions (currently happening as we speak), to being regarded as a top end product.

Indeed they are.  i paid USD39 in macys when i was in SFO a couple of years back.  Crazy prices in AUS as well

They do but the cans are smaller so the pressure doesn't rise as much at altitude.  The cold slows the expansion as well.

I know that when I worked for an airline we couldn't bring certain pressure packs back from the USA on our own aircraft as they were banned - we had to ship them on a slow boat.

I think I could live with a deoderant or shaving cream popping in my bag but not a can of paint.

I've never used Autoglym (except the glass polish), so I can't give an opinion.

I have used Meguiars in the past.

I found the Cleaner Wax was full of optical fillers so it looked great at first but deteriorated quickly.

The clay bar kits are good but expensive for what they are.  I can buy equal quality for half the price at a dedicated detailing supplier.

I wasn't sneering.  I was making a statement of fact.  Even Meguiars will tell you their target market is the upper end of the home detailer / amatuer market.  You won't find many pro detailers using Meguiars - it's too expensive for what you get.

I use a lot of cheaper products when they do the job i need.  Maybe you don't have it in the UK but I have used Spray and Wipe on my tyres - it gives a great matt look.  I also have used laundry spot spray that you use on greasy marks on clothes on my wheels as it was 95% hydrocarbon.

I do like Natty's Poor Boys paste wax as it's long lasting, easy to apply and a jar lasts about 6 cars so it's cheaper than Megs.  Currently I'm using Chem Guys products because a mate sold me a heap really cheap but I don't think I'll use them again as the Natty's is easier to work with.

I have a few mates that are hooked on DoDo Juice & there cars look great.

I'm also really keen to try something from the Collonite range but I understand they need a lot of effort to put on?

My favourite car wash is Duragloss car Wash Concentrate but my wife / kids keep buying me carwash from the local shops for Fathers Day so you have to use that up first or your in trouble with them.

My post was generic, not aimed at anyone in particular.
