New to Skoda

Featured Replies

Picked up our new mk111 on Saturday and 150 miles later very impressed. Never had a Skoda before and so far the only niggles are the auto lock doesn't work and no option on Bolero to activate it. Also Mirrorlink doesn't recognise our Samsung phone. Off to the dealer today for a chat!

Auto lock can be activated a long with a lot of others things. Have a look on the Briskoda map for people around your area with VCDS, usually they do whatever you need for a few beer tokens.

According to the infotainment manual for the Bolero for Fabia mk3 page 51/52 it should have the option to autolock but looks like it wasn't coded on a lot of cars, along with audible unlock/lock, wonder if latest version of VCDS is compatible with mk3?

Hi, how long was it between placing your order and picking the car up?

I'm also interested in what the Dealer will say regarding Samsung and Mirrorlink. I have the Galaxy S5 and should pick my car up in 3-4 weeks.

Just got back from the dealer and advised that auto lock is not an option on the mk3 but is quoted in the manual. They are raising the issue with Skoda technical! Watch this space!!

Also been advised that the Samsung Galaxy III which we only bought 2 weeks ago isn't on the list of comparable phones! So if we want to use Mirrorlink then we need to buy an older version of Phone which is listed ! Not impressed !

well that sucks, hopefully VCDS can sort this as it seems a backwards step.

Well.. when I test drove a Mk3 1.2 SE version in January - autolock engaged when I got to about 10mph - and the salesrep even pointed it out when I heard the lock noise.. so to say it isn't an option on the Mk3 Fabia is a complete lie by your dealer.  It's probably not been programmed correctly.  So using VAGCOM should sort it out..

As for Samsung S3.. most versions came with JellyBean as standard, you may have to upgrade to latest version of OS ready for Mirrorlink.  Skoda will update Mirrorlink for various devices twice a year I think.

The problem is that there's a disparity between what the manual says and the menu options avaiable on the car.

Did you ever get a reply? Autolock isn't enabled on my Fabia either.

I can reply for you - it is very much available as I have it enabled on my mk3 estate.

The dealer sorted that and also added the alarm beeps when locking and unlocking.

It would seem as though it is a lottery with regards to dealer knowledge on these things!

Thanks, that's good to know. I'll get on to my dealer in the morning.

Shees, hopefully not enabled as standard. My neighbours will kill me, leaving every morning at 0615! :)

better to be woke by a Fabia than anything else..

Nobody is going to be starting and driving away in a TDI using stealth mode.

I had autolocking enabled today and I have no alarm beep thankfully.

I wish I could say the same for my fiancée's Giulietta. It's deafening!

Hi noticed the comment on the Samsung I have just bought a Fabia Estate and was advised to check what phone to use as my Nokia was not compatible and on looking found the Samsung Galaxy mini S4 so bought one and now I find that it is not on the Skoda site as a compatible phone as it was noted on Skoda Ag but shuly if it works in Europe it is compatible here. Any advice

The best phone theoretically is the Sony xperia z3 but Ive heard even that doesn't work properly so forget about mirror link. Try and get your dealer to upgrade it for the new Bolero with smart link when they are available. Thats my plan anyway! the more of us who complain the better.

Ah, oh, well, I have a couple of senior citizen neighbors who dont know about that.. :)
