Not sure if anyone posted or saw this before, im not a much risk as my dash might get a dust off occasionally if it's lucky (as it doesn't make the outside look better!) - but not thought about not spraying aerosol based cleaner on the dash...

Many aerosols use gas as the propellant (I think it's propane) so he must have got a spark when he switched the ignition on and this ignited the gas which hadn't dispersed. It's a good shout as I had a similar thing once when lubricating my paper shreader at home which singed my eyebrows but because it was in a large room no damage was done.
