Towbar and Electrics

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever had anything to do with a towbar on later Roomsters?

Ive fitted my own towbars in the past and electrics Ive had to re-do as they often aren't done to my standard, I once paid for one to be fitted and found that the wires had been twisted together.

Was speaking to a garage that I use local to me, hes an independent but not a back st botdge it and legit. He says you need to buy the proper wiring kit because it connects into the ECU.

And he is telling the truth. Gone are the days of just clipping wires together. With CanBus things have to be integrated and reprogrammed.

There are now a couple of people producing copies of the proper wiring kit that will just plug straight into the car's loom.

This is a real pain especially since the dealer Im buying off told me to go elsewhere for a towbar as their genuine Skoda were too costly. Think I should of bought an old landy instead.

So itll need plugging into the VCDS machine to tell the car its now got a towbar installed?
