My car now has a registration number. I'm not sure what that means in terms of delivery though.

I guess it means it's been processed by customs/DVLA/port authority so the last thing to do is get it delivered to the dealer? Let's hope so anyway!

The dealer's just told me that there are delays getting cars away from the ports of entry, which tallies with what others have said.

The dealer usually completes the registration paperwork so that suggests that the car is with them , or at least the paperwork is , would be risky registering a car before physically checking it over imo

Be sure that any Dealer does not go First Registering a car too long before delivery to you to meet their Monthly, Quarter,

Tax Year or Bonus time Sales.

Because the Warranty Period starts running from the First Registration date.

Ohh I thought the warranty started when you brought it

You just check with the Supplier, because this can be an Issue with cars bought through Brokers and the likes,

or as i said, where someone wants to meet some Timeline likes Sales / First Registered.

But the first MOT always becomes due 3 Years on from First Registration.

According to the dealer, my car is still at the port of entry. I'll look into the warranty, goneoffSKi.

Just heard back from the dealer. My car has a reg allocated but hasn't actually been registered yet as they will do this on the day of collection.

Got my registration document to sign today , dealer confirmed a lot of VAG cars sat at port awaiting delivery so not getting too excited quite yet

I've heard this too. My Wife's Fabia is in port at Grimsby, but we are expecting delivery in early April.

I'm in the same boat as Prog. My car is at Grimsby and the Dealership are hoping for a 13/14 April delivery. I won't hold my breath.

Mid April? Noooooooo!!!

Well, we shall see I guess.

My own (most recent) car came in via Emden/Grimsby and that was around 3 days from UK Port to dealer. It's all guesswork in my experience, the car will arrive when it arrives.

My dealer has mailed me again , they are hoping to get the car ready for me by the end of the month ! Fingers crossed

Mine was build week 11 and is still at the port. :(

Have just ordered a Fabia sel 1.2 tsi 90ps to replace my old 2005 Fabia Elegance estate 1.9 diesel I hope this one lasts just as long as I am 70 now and as they say "it will probably see me out"

I picked the petrol version as I only do about 8/9k a year and heard horror stories of the cost of replacing the diesel particulate filters if they get blocked. This is only my 3rd new car in 50 yrs of motoring and I am as excited as the rest of you at getting a new car. Fortunately I live near the port of Tyne bet mine lands at Grimsby :) Joe

Update from the Salesman. It's looking like Thursday 2 April for collection. He's going to confirm on Saturday and if that's the case, certainly better than the middle of April.

Fingers crosed, Goody!

Still no further news from my dealer so I've just fired off an email. I'll report back when I've heard from them.

My car is apparently on the agenda for the dealer's morning meeting. I'll know more soon.
