  • Well.......it's finally good news!   The car has just arrived at the dealer, 13 days after arriving in the country. I will be picking it up tomorrow all being well.   There is hope for all you gu

  • Have just ordered a Fabia sel 1.2 tsi 90ps to replace my old 2005 Fabia Elegance estate 1.9 diesel I hope this one lasts just as long as I am 70 now and as they say "it will probably see me out" I p

That's good to know. Did you phone the Dealer or did they contact you?

Hopefully mine is also at the same stage.

I contacted them and they looked it up on the system.

nothing like a new car for getting the excitement going

Have just been informed today that my car is at sea, somewhere between Rotterdam and Grimsby. According to the Dealer though it is likely to be around the middle of April before I get it due to the large volume of Skodas coming in to the Port.

Or maybe Skoda UK want them First Registered in the 2nd Quarter 2015 and a Press Release or many on the Car of the Years

marverlous sales success.

Or they want your money in the next financial year.

Who knows what the real story is, but there usually is one,

because cars built and not paid for is costing someone someplace.

PS

Skoda do not sell or even register large volumes of cars in the UK,

so its rather odd that their are high volumes at the port very soon.

You would think they would want the Car of the Year on the road and not just Dealers Demonstrators

& a smarttering of cars buyers have received in the past few weeks.

It only takes 2 days for the crossing then another 4-5 days to be transported to the dealer so don't know why they've said middle of April. There's still nearly 2 weeks left of March, it does seem strange that they're predicting a delay.

goneoffSki makes an interesting point in his first paragraph, but to be honest who knows.

As of yesterday my car was still at the port of exit. I've not heard anything further.

The Salesman phoned me at lunchtime today giving me the update. There's every chance your car is also on the ship.

Fingers crossed!

Your car can be at port of exit for up to 2 weeks, then can take another week to be released into compound in this country.

Mine was built on 23rd Feb, was meant to come into Grimsby, but is actually sat in Port of Tyne currently waiting for transport.

That is 24 days from build so far - and counting!

The whole process from build can easily take a month, I have been burned with this before, just sit back and be patient.

Annoying isn't it!

The wait for my Citigo was far worse than this so I'm still pretty chilled. :)

VW have a massive landing and holding compound next to the mouth of the Tyne, transporters are in and out constantly full of VW group cars, it shouldn't take too long.

There's always one or two transporter vessels anchored up off the coast waiting for docking berths, Nissan's ships are always there as it's factory is only 6-7 miles down the road.

It beggars believe how stupid some drivers can be, I know we all make mistakes but when you know you have a car transporter full of cars it's going to sit tall so why try and drive under a bridge !!!

my car is in Grimsby.. waiting for a transporter. Joy.  came in in on the Neckar Highway..

I had an email from the dealer earlier telling me that my car is in the UK, presumably Grimsby too. I'm still hopeful for delivery this month.

Mine has been in the country since the 11th of March.

It is still waiting for scheduling to a transporter 10 days later, despite being marked as urgent, and will be 12 days by Monday when I can try again.

This process is meant to take 7 days.

I have been informed that there is a big backlog of cars coming from Grimsby, and Port of Tyne (where mine is) so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

Will have to re-tax my current car in 10 days! hurry hurry hurry........

That's ridiculous. Keep us all posted. I'll let you know if mine starts to move.

once in country should be relatively quick turn around depending on the number of movements, as it is not first of march you should be ok, will be tight though,

but due to changes in car tax you will need to tax your car but then apply for a refund of all full months of tax remaining when you sell the car, so you should only really pay a maximum 1 month of tax once the refund comes back into your account

It is in the country, has been for 11 days now.......sigh

I would rather avoid having to tax if poss, it is a bit of a pain, but it's looking ever more likely that I may have to.

I'm lucky as my current car is £0 tax but I'd be very annoyed if I had to pay and got the new car a few days into the month.

My Yeti was build week 10 and I got an e-mail from my dealer on 18th to say it was at Port of Tyne and would hopefully be with them later this week. It seems to have moved very quickly, if it was build week 10 as confirmed by SUK, to get from the factory to the port in Germany, then across the water to Port of Tyne. Let's hope it moves as quickly in this country!
