Options for a Neptune Refurb on a blue FL Octavia VRS

Recommended Posts

I have a blue FL Octavia VRS with refurbed 18in Neptune's in dark grey which need an unplanned further refurb due to me finding out that two of the wheels were buckled by the previous owner (of the wheels not the car)

I have decided to use the Wheel Specialist in Birmingham due to their reputation. They will strip them, roll out the buckles and powder coat them in any finish I want same day for £250 all in.

I previously had a black Octavia with Neptune's finished in the Wheel Specialist gunmetal which looked absolutely amazing but I am aware some finishes suit different colours cars more so than others.

I know that darker finishes are not to everyone's taste but I like them, I just can't decide on which finish. I have whittled it down to charcoal / anthracite, black chrome, smoked chrome or gunmetal.

I would greatly appreciate opinions and photos as to what finish would look good on my blue facelift Octavia VRS which is totally standard other than a colour coded grille.

My winters were refurbed anthracite (I actually asked for gunmetal which is a bit lighter but he did the wrong colour.... I like the antracite though)

Edit: I've just realised how bad these photos are- I'll try and get some better ones in the next few days- I think they look darker in the metal

Apologies for the hijack but as a result of the 3rd world-spec road maintenance around our neck of the woods I have two buckled vRS wheels -  1 x 17" pre-facelift & 1 x 18" FL Neptune - & I was wondering just how badly bent out of shape they have to be before a wheel specialist will be unable to re-true them?

I have been quoted £70 each by a reputable local agent - who admittedly haven't seen the wheels in the flesh/metal - but like I say, am interested to know just how badly squared-off they need to be before they're deemed beyond repair.

By the way, and to steer back on topic a bit, the black chrome finish looks fantastic..

Many thanks & apologies again for butting in..

Dave.

I had two buckled black Neptunes repaired here: http://www.wheelworksuk.co.uk/

They did a very good job - only required the tiniest balancing weight when the tyres went back on. Pretty sure the price was a lot less than £70 per wheel.

Two other alloys were twisted however, and they said they couldn't fix them. They could tell me this straight away when I first went in and they put them on the balancing machine. I was a bit surprised, wonder if it's ever possible to fix twisted alloys - I still have 'em anyway, as they'll be OK emergency alloys if I meet another Sussex pothole.
