1.2 TSi mpg

Featured Replies

For years I've been keeping a record of my various cars' mpg, based on fill to brim at the pumps. Just out of curiosity I decided to do a bit of basic analysis on the data for the Yeti.

I've achieved an average of 39.1 miles per gallon from the 1.2 TSI engine in an Elegance weighed down with a sunroof and spare wheel. The graph (see thumbnail) covers a period of about 20 months and shows a rolling average of 5 fills (so around 2,000 miles) with the date being the date of the third of the five fills. I generally manage to avoid driving at commuter times in  towns but other than that its mixed driving - country lanes through to motorways. The graph shows the expected seasonal variation but not any significant improvement in mpg as the engine beds in (although I think 39mpg isn't bad for this type of car anyway, particularly as I'm seldom on my own in it and frequently it's four adults and a large dog).

Long term maxidot figure on ours is always 41.x. Mostly short journeys around hilly Sheffield and the odd longer trip into the peaks. I'm happy enough with it.

I will be pleased if I get 39.1 mpg. Current mpg for my new Yeti is in my signature.

Over 31,000 miles my 1.2 Tsi Elegance DSG has averaged a true 41.04 MPG (brim-to-brim measurements). Mixture of rural, town and motorway driving. I have found that high speed cruising (75+) pushes consumption to 38'ish but keeping to 70 allows 40+ to be achieved.

I get nowhere near that. The computer used to be very accurate until I had a new engine fitted, now it reads over. By about 10%
