Best tyres for Fabia.

Featured Replies

Hi, As some will know I've recently bought some new wheels for my Fabia, they are 16s rather than the 15s that are on now. I was just wondering what people on here think would be the best tyre to have put on them. They will be 205/45/16. I currently have a set of 195/55/15 Hankooks which I am not having any problems with but if anyone wants to recommend something better then please go ahead. Also a quick question: If I buy asymmetric tyres do they come as a left and a right tyre or do they make them so they look odd when fitted?

OPONEO best place to buy tyres,  widest choice, best prices, lots of review and tyrereview and good place to look at reviews also.

Money no object Michelin Super Sports or Pilot Sport, I have used 3s but think you can still get 2 which some prefer.

I use Nexens Summers, All Season and Winters on the cars.

Key thing is to not use tyres below 3 mm of tread, 4 mm for winters, and probably keep no longer than 2 maybe 3 years due to age hardening.

Some use 215/40-17 on the Fabias.  Mine would melt Conti 2s, do not like Dunlops either.

on my MkI, Uniroayl RainSport 3's, braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap

Good year efficient grips are a good tyre. Good year eagle f1 asymmetric are too.  Asymmetric are not left and right specific.

**  EDITED **   Uniroyal, Night in the Pub Lee?

I have had Michelin PS3s and Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric 2s on the Superb and will probably continue with the Eagle F1A2. Better overall tyre for price, performance and longevity. Nationwide F1 auto centre has them on a good price the moment.

An asymmetrical tyre pattern varies from one brand to another.

It can have a matching pattern on the inside and the outside of tyre.

It can also have a different pattern comparing the inside pattern to the outside pattern of tyre.

Either pattern means the tyre can be fitted to any corner of the car.

A Directional tyre can only be used on one side of the car only.

This is because the pattern has been designed to be used in one direction only, and marked accordingly.

I have found no matter what type of tyre has been fitted, and whether branded non-branded, at 15,000 miles the front tyres need replacing.

Only have one comment which someone may find useful. My Roomster which recently got bashed into oblivion by a guy giving me a serious whack in the backside with a Mondeo had the original Bridgestones on which had done over 27000 and still going with no signs of aging at 5years of age. I was seriously impressed as you might imagine.

I found the Bridgestone Turanzas too hard and not enough grip but that was the old ER300 and the new T001s are much better I gather for grip but probably do not last as long.

Sticking with the Nexen tyres, have some summer ones, some all season and some winter ones.

It is going to be an El Niño year  so good idea to be prepared.

Federal RSR's here. Very grippy, hard wearing and cheap.

The Uniroyal Rainsport 3's we're very good IMO, but too soft for summer use they wore away in no time once spring arrived.

Just about to replace tyres on my monte carlo with toyo proxies t1r. Far better than the p zero Nero that came on the car from new

On htp fabia went for all season nexens.

I remember a foot of snow in se England and struggling to get home to Worcestershire.

Work ok in what passes as summer here.

I've gone for Goodyear vector 4 seasons on my HTP.

As performance isnt a massive issue, but having grip in winter is more important, as we get the snow quite bad here.

They seem to be doing a good job!
