vRS: Misty Screen, anyone had the same problem?

Featured Replies

I've had the same problem with mine. I had to towell off the moisture on the inside of the screen. Mine is now booked into the local dealer for it to be checked uner warranty. I have found though that after rain on opening the drivers door that there is water dribbling down the inside of the door sill and therefore into the car. I have been told by the dealership that this is common and is normally the door ancillaries carrier not sealing properly. I then decided to check all the doors after some rain. On inspection I found water entering the car from the bottom of the NSR door. I guess with this it'll be the door seal. But we'll see...... I'll update once I've got the vehicle back and DRY!!! It goes in on Thurdsday.

Another thing I've found is the newer ones (like mine) have manual rear windows, and the handles seem to get pushed down accidentally sometimes, especially if I've had the back seat down. They wont open enough that you'll be able to see a gap, but it would mean that the seals not as good, so the moisture might be getting in that way?

We used to do this all the time with our 2001 Polo with manual rear windows, and yes, it steamed up a lot.

I'm starting to get this lately. I put it down to the weather conditions. It's not happened to me in the Hot weather.

I had this problem, replaced my polen filter (

common Fabia problem , water ingress through the door inner panel seals , happens on all the doors , tell tale signs are misting windows even when warm conditions , water on the top of the door aperture seals and wet carpets , it should be fixed under warranty

Leaky seals are definitely a problem. We also found on our W reg 1.4 that dead leaves could block the wiper drains, and lead to torrents of water flooding into the footwell (esp passenger side) when going around corners. Nasty surprise for passengers, and takes ages to dry out!
