marked steering wheel

Featured Replies

I am increasingly finding finger nail scrapes all over the rim of my Vrs steering wheel. It can only be me, as no one else has driven it since I picked it up 11 months ago. Will have to cut them more often. I'm a guy, Wondered how everyone else is managing, especially any Ladies out there. Didn't have this issue with my Mk2 Octy.

Is that you, Wolverine?

Same here, you just need to hit your knee and its a scratch..

I bought a new flat one and a carbon shop here in sweden are changing the lower and top part to carbon fiber

Not had a problem with vRS so far but my old focus st170 steering wheel had tonnes of gashes after 130k miles - and i hate having long nails so cut them regularly.  I think leather steering wheels are designed to be soft and comfortable to hold so liable to this kind of damage.

Yes the covering on the Mk3 wheel is v soft and susceptible to scratches. My Mk6 Golf was the same, mainly from catching nails or jean trousers against it when getting in and out. I have a few on the bottom of mine after 22k miles, also some evidence of wear to the leather on the gearknob. The car is well looked after also.

The Mk2 vRS I had suffered the same though was a little more forgiving as the base of the wheel was plastic and not leather.
