Unlocking door, with no central locking?

Hi. I can't open the front door on the passenger side. I have partly removed the door card, as much as I can with a closed door. Is there any way to unlock the door from the inside? (That doesn't require electricity?). When unlocking the car, there is a small mechanical sound from the door, but it doesn't unlock.
