Bolero Brightness and PDC volume?

Featured Replies

Recently installed my bolero and awaiting purchase of bluetooth bits to add that feature to it. Two things I have noticed since installing it are my parking sensors do not seem to be as loud anymore? is there a way in VCDS i can adjust the volume of them? also the brightness on my bolero i cannot seem to be able to adjust it, its always at its lowest setting but if i turn on my sidelights it will then brighten and stay that way? is there a way i can sort this?

Adjust the volume when it's active and it'll stay set. IIRC there's also 3 levels of brightness available but can't be 100% on that - adjustable via menu.

I think the brightness issue relates to the make of Bolero and the controller you have. There've been a couple of threads recently relating to retrofitting the Bolero and I think it was mentioned there.

1) Yes you can change the loudness of the PDC beeps in VCDS - I'll check where in the morning. However, even at full-tilt, it ain't that loud, and I don't recall Bolero muting the radio when in reverse either.

2) Bolero brightness you're kinda stuck with. This is one of the reasons I ditched mine for something else. RNS315/Amundsen+ is a neat alternative, and can provide Bluetooth, DAB and RVC functionality to the car. :)

It must depend on how old the Bolero is, adjusting the volume of the PDC beeps and the brightness of the screen is all possible on mine via the settings menu button.

My bolero is a 2013 unit in my 06 vrsand i have to flick my lights on and off to get it to light up correctly

Same on the Bolero in my car (March 2012).

Cheers for the replys guys, neither is a major problem im not bad at reverse parking anyway but will max the volume on the pdc controller in vcds anyway, and the brightness ill learn to live with till i can afford a more upmarket headunit

The standard Stream used to drop volume when reverse was selected, but since the Columbus,. and now the Bolero have been retrofitted, that function doesn't happen, same as the displays for parking sensors and climate not showing.

......and yet Columbus (and Amunsen) knows, even on the older cars, that it's in reverse. The secret menu shows it and the RVC activates and displays. Surely it wouldn't have been a huge programming strain to lower the stereo volume as well.

When i put mine into reverse with a factory fit bolero, the sound DOES go down. there are around 5 levels of brightness for the display. To adjust it you press the setup butoon, then its illumination and there you get a menu with (at least) 5 levels IIRC

Admittedly not a Bolero but a Columbus in my case, but sound drop only occurred for me when I upgraded to the later FL parking controller. I think it is therefore a pre FL/FL difference with the newer head units.
