Rear Bumper Protection Strip

Featured Replies

Just fitted a rear bumper protection strip (£32). Did not wholly follow the installation instructions as I had neither the glue/bond recommended for the corners or the official Skoda installation template.  The strip has self adhesive strips and other forum posts suggest those alone are more than adequate.

I've been mulling over fitting one of those for a while now, along with doorsill footplates, but the ones I've seen don't cover the whole area that needs to be protected. But my bumper is getting pretty roughed up,so I may have to bite the bullet and buy one..Prepping the sutface is the key to a good bond. Most of the better kits come with the cleaning liquid and the cloth included.Hows yours holding up so far since you fitted it ?

Ohhh I like a lot, was thinking about something like that but didn't know if there was such a thing. Where did you get it from and can you post a link please.

Skodashop.uk do them plus the full rubber boot mat with fold out flap for loading dogs, shopping etc which protects the bumper. Also many on ebay.I like the chrome effect one that they do.

Downside with the ones you can buy for the doorsill paintwork, is that again, they dont go full depth on protection because nobody has thought to design a set with a shaped cut-out that allows for the window drain channels in the door bottoms.

Sometimes I wonder what designers actually do for the vast amount of money that they earn. :smirk:

I washed and dried the bumper (and the rest of the car) and used an alcohol based spray to remove any final grease/residue before fitting the cover.  As advised we let the car sit for 24hours after fitting.

As for longevity it's too early to say, but Mrs M likes it which is all that really matters  :D .

The two main criteria for success and a peaceful life have been met, then. 1-  rule 6 P has been applied and  2- SWMBO is a happy bunny..lol....you can't ask more than that from life :D:thumbup:

I fitted one in "08" when I got the car. Fitted it on a warm day, no extra glue. Got it from the dealer. Still on with no problems at all.
