Broken battery holder

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

I have somehow managed to break the clips that hold on level 1 and 2 of the battery holder. This is a right pain as the top no longer stays ontop of the battery. I need to get hold of a new holder and was wondering how much the second cover and outside of the battery holder would cost, basically the two parts of the battery holder with clips on. Also what are the risks in disconnecting both terminals from the car? Am i going to reset anything, or is it safe to do so? The car is a fabia vrs btw. Part numbers would be great.

Cheers

Richard

Mine got damaged by the dealer - I will be bringing it up again (10k service when it happened, it's just hit 20k so due another service).

Will try to remember to post back here what it costs, although mine will be done at their expense ;)

As for the second part of your question, I honestly don't know :(

How/why did it get damaged by the dealer on a 10k service? Curious thats all.

im wondering how mine managed to break. does the battery lid nearly touch the bonnet? So if you put it on wrong and then drop the bonnet, would this break it? I would have thought there would be some clearance. mine was fine until i looked today and noticed it had broken, topped up the oil last week.

WW_VRS - would really appreciate it if you could get back to me with the price of the first level cover and the battery housing, after your service. Part numbers would be great, think the lower level cover is 6Q0 937 550G, not sure about the battery housing.

Cheers

They get broken when not clipped back in properly. You have to make sure the cover is at the correct angle before slotting it back on.

You need 6Q0 937 550G and 6Q0 915 753A

I never opened mine, this is how I knew I couldn't have snapped it :)

My guess is that it happened when they changed the standard bulbs for some uprated ones, as it's a little tight. Perhaps they removed the battery box or something, I dunno.

Price wise I will ask, although mr Lummox may also have the retail price(s) at hand :)

I broke my battery cover (the one that gets clipped in to, the one with all the electrical connections on) and the part number is 6Q0 937 550G (

I broke mine also. To hold it down I drilled a hole near the edge in the top cover and the one underneath and use a wire tie to hold it tight saves money on a new one

You tight got Mr Morley! :P

Suppose it also leaves more time for eating 'eh!

bump, thought some of you might be interested in these bits as quite a few seem to have broken.

Cheers

Plastic doesnt have to be that expensive, as long as it's 'simple' and easy to manufacture etc, and by the sound of it, high volume :D
