Mk3 VRS tailpipes.

Featured Replies

I followed a brand new mk3 vrs today & as it was cold there was the usual condensation coming from the exhaust, however it was only coming out of one side,my question is does the mk3 vrs have a false tailpipe?

The diesel does yes

Tsi has both sides. On acceleration when cold, can't see what I've left behind until I level off, as the rear window mists over on the outside. Simply clever, and fun..... Simple things please simple m*n*s.

Both petrol and diesel has false cosmetic trims in the bumper, only the petrol has an exhaust behind each.

So does the Audi RS7.

Would expect a lot of mainstream cars have trims not actually connected to the exhaust. Makes in cheaper to replace if the chrome bits are damaged by whatever means. Does it make it any better if they were part of the exhaust. I doubt it.

Yup, fake on the diesel. Luckily for me some people, upon detecting this anomaly, default to the conclusion I must therefore be a tupperware tuner and rev their engines followed by a smile in my general direction.

Boy, do I prove those people wrong.

The TDI and TSI motors have different exhaust configurations...just as the Mk7 GTD and GTI's do.

Think its a bit of a shame Skoda didnt just put proper chromed exhaust tips on rather than having the bumper mounted chrome tips but then I suppose it was in part a cost saving exercise and a way to make spotting a TSI v and TDI that little bit less obvious.

I see lots of modern cars with fake trims mounted to the bumper including more expensive cars like mercs. Doesn't really bother me that much, they still look quite fancy, although a little naf on a diesel to have a completely fake one

my question is does the mk3 vrs have a false tailpipe?

The tail pipe is not fake,  it's just not used.
