window motor code numbers

Featured Replies

Hi guys I am trying to source a drivers window motor for my 2005 VRS. The part number is 6Y2959802, the other number on it is SK240DDRS. I have seen one that is 6Y1959802 with the other number on it being VW240PDRS. Will this work in my Fabia?

6Y1 is for left hand drive models, you need 6Y2 I believe.

Cheers Steve, I really grudge paying £176, that is what my local Skoda quoted for the part.

From experience some have two plugs and some have three. Just so you can check that way also.

mine has 3 plugs with K4 marked on it (sticker)

This is the one from my 2005 Fabia vrs.

6Y2959802SK4 is the newest part number I think, Old part number used to be 6Y2959802SK1 but they are all the same part and compatible.

Steve, will your one be compatible the numbers on the one currently on the car are 6Y2959802, the other number on it is SK240DDRS. Same as Hutchy's above.

I belive it to be the right part number, but he would need to check / confirm since he's who your buying it off :D

Might not be interchangeable.  Looking at this page, up to chassis numbers 5B034942 or 54237711 the part number started with 6Q, like Steve's; from those chassis numbers onwards they went to ones starting 6Y, like yours. Dunno what the difference might be, but connectors are a likely possibility.

Hmmm.

Steves part:

602959802 SK2

John part:

6Y2959802 SK2

That first 0 in Steve's number will be a Q, I'm pretty sure.

Hmm, looks like you might be right looking at the link!

I know from replacing mine, it was a gold mine! I was lucky to get a brand new genuine one still in the box for £40.

I'll have a 05 plate vrs 1 next week

Please drop me a PM if you've still got the old motor module, and you'd be willing to sell/post it to me for a small fee. I'm interested in doing a post-mortem on one of these to see what bit gives up.  Ta.

Glad to hear you've solved your malfunction. :)

Pm sent.

Hello Wino, Please advice ur result and is it worth sending time for postmortem, i can imagine possible fault could be at three components in this part i.e  motor, plastic circuit board or fly wheel. please advice ur result and possible option to repair if it is worth. cheers

Hi raky.  Johngt had binned his motor by the time he saw my request; but hutchysrs50 sent me a dead or intermittently working one. I took it apart and examined it closely but didn't see any obvious dead components. Months later (Dec 2015) he bought another vRS and it had a window motor problem.  I spent a little time cleaning up all the contacts carefully (where the connector(s) plug in, and the internal connector pair that links the motor itself to the control PCB) and sent this same motor module back to him.

He told me that it worked fine. Not sure if it still is working, knowing him he's changed cars three or four times at least since then. :)

Still working fine to this day :)
