Hi Colin and members. My name is Alan and I am the owner since yesterday of a 2004 Octavia1 1.9 TDi Estate with Ambience trim.

I made a good deal for my ancient LandRover Discovery with a small trader, and travelled from North Wales to Manchester at 25mpg ... then returned in this very nice VW engined Skoda at 70/75 and according to the onboard computer achieving 51.4mpg and actually able to hear the radio  ... :) 

 

I loved the old Land Rover, but am at the moment travelling to Newbury every two weeks to woo the new love of my life after being twice widowed in 2002 then 2012.

The fuel bill using  the Land Rover was hurting quite badly, so I was looking for a more economical estate car such as a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi or Peugot 406 when up popped this lovely Skoda in exceptional condition inside and out, and even more economical than my first two choices.

 

Not given it a run yet apart from the 80 miles home yesterday, but it will take me to Newbury next weekend... I feel sure that my initial first favourable impressions will be well proven by the time I return home to North Wales in a fortnights time after clocking up 5 to 6 hundred miles.. (return journey is 450 miles).

Thanks Jonny... just found a CD autochanger hiding behind a panel in the rear which I was unaware of ... the more I delve the more I like this car, lots of nice touches and great build quality ...  :)
