vRS Brake Calipers

Featured Replies

Hi all, another question I'm afraid, apologies if this has already been asked, I did have a quick look.

vRS brake calipers are very visible due to their shouty colours and I do my best to keep mine clean.

Just wondered if there is any sort of coating / protector available for high temperature parts such as these that ultimately make them easier to clean in the future?

Cheers all...

I use wheel sealant .....keeps them clean

Wax is generally not heat resistant.

Having said that..they don't get that hot unless you're really ragging the car...or on a track

FK1000p is a high temp sealant which will work far better than a wax. You could also use a ceramic sealant product such as Carbon Collective platinum wheels.

Bonus with FK is you can also seal your car with it, along with your wheels.

+1 for this approach; i've recommended the same on another forum just this week.

FK1000P for the money is a superb and versatile product indeed

Chaps.

Just been looking at 1000P and it appears to be a paste (i'm so unaware of all these wonderful products)

Does that make it tricky to apply to something with such an iregular shape as a brake caliper or am I missing something?

Sorry.... :(

Not at all tricky

Just dab a small amount on a applicator pad and spread very thinly over the whole caliper

Then allow to haze and buff off

No its easy, its a hard paste, I find for brake calipers its easier to use a cloth to apply it to the caliper. Basically use your finger with a cloth around it. Apply, leave for 10 mins & then buff off, you can apply another layer almost straight away.

Hi guys

Sorry to drag this thread up again but would 1000P be ok for the backs of alloy wheels?

Yes mate. Absolutely fine!

No worries mate. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Since I have mine a new lick of paint all they have needed when cleaning is a snow foam and rinse with a pressure washer and they are plenty much perfectly clean (weekly wash)
