bad design

Featured Replies

i read in an earlier post about rain water getting into boot when lifting hatch . just been to supermarket ,lifted hatch & hey presto soaked speakers  . i,ve owned a number of hatch backs & never had this problem.

it seems to happen only when hatch is fully opened. open it 3/4 =no puddle in the boot, not ideal but saves shelling out for new speakers

regds ect

:x

Had this problem on 3 cars astra hatch, granada and escort.

found the soloution, it's rather technicall but here goes. buy an estate.

sent very tounge in cheek  , please don't be offended but think also of the extra re-sale value.

I posted this before, asking for advice, and other than getting lots of agreement that it was a problem, there doesn't seem to be a solution....other than owning an estate, opening the boot slowly, or buying outdoor waterproof speakers!

I did speak to a dealer about the problem, and again other than agreeing that it was a problem and that he has had complaints, but no solution

but I agree with you, what a pain in the ass...

I did find another soloution to the problem on all cars, and that is to stop the water collecting on the hatch by polisihing the paintwork well using a good polish (autoglym for example) and putting rain-x on the window (properly). then the water did not sit on the hatch so when raised not much water ran down thus no over flow ing the seals and dripping on the floor or speakers.

sorry it's not much of a suggestion it did seem to work quite well and aleviate the problem somewhat.
