Aftermarket downpipe failing

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am a new vrs owner and so far very pleased. My car is standard except a map, 007p, miltek cat back. My problem is that I've had to replace my cat as the original flexi by the turbo was hanging by a thread. I have now replaced with an eBay sports cat due to cost purposes. Very happy with it, spool up is considerably quicker and when on boost the engine note is much nicer. The only prob is that there is about 5-10mm gap between dp and the steering rack. It only hits when pulling away in 1st and if you suddenly accelerate.

My question is, if I buy engine spacers (25mm) will that also lift the dp 25mm ?

Thanks in advance.

Joe

Try new bushes in the Dogbone, OEM or go down the Poly route, stops a lot engine movement and improves gear change feel, Win Win situation,

I was going to suggest the uprated dog bone route as well. Oh look, I have a Superpro all built up for sale!

That dogbone mount has solved the prob. The difference now between gear changes and lifting off is amazing. Now I just need to find my other rattling/ knocking noise from NSF of car.

Awesome. Glad to hear it's done the trick. The standard dog bone must be pretty naff, as all I've known is the Superpro and current Vibra-Technics.

It is, when I bought mine many moons ago i was amazed how much the front hopped about when you gave it the beans plus engine movement.

Car had done only 9k.

After trying various combinations  of new bushes I settled on poly-bush for both d/bone bushes, slight vibration on tick-over but nothing to worry about.

Im sure doing this mod will also reduce flexing on the exhaust system front end.
