Looks good in black.

Look real nice in black too, and if you look close (my wife says) it looks like stars in the paint

Looks good mate!

I have an SE hatchback nearly with me.

Very nice enjoy

Another good choice with the estate...... i do wonder just how many hatchbacks are being sold ! Everytime there is a new car announcement it seems to be the estate version.

Mine will be a hatchback. I take delivery on Monday.

Wooo!!

Moving from 2005 1.9 elegance estate to Blue SEL 1.2 TSi hatch on Monday the waiting is over Joe

I would have liked the SE L but just couldn't stretch that far, but having said we are loving it so far, my wife really likes the black, she says it looks like its got stars in the paint

Looking good there in black. Really liking the shape of this model -  in pretty well any colour.

They just seem to have got the proportions just about spot on.  Especially the estate.

Is that not a timeless design, or what ??!!

Getting very greeny, green envious here!!  Have another 6 weeks approx for a beige 1.2, 90brake, Estate to land on Irish soil !

Also, interesting to see the differences in what's standard and optional in different countries. We seem to get a spare wheel as standard here in Ireland - with a choice of

spacesaver or standard - but a spare wheel. No gooey stuff!

Anyone else get the Front Assist Radar?  Is it useful or a nuisance ?  I have it on the toys list - so, will know in June! (and duly report back!)

I thought the Front Assist Radar was standard

I know a lot of companys buy the estate for their reps, my friend is on his second one, swears by their reliability.

No - not in IRL it's not, Gazbull.  And was having a snoop in the dealer's forecourt an hour ago (!!!) and of 5 Fabia 3s there, none had Front Assist. Indeed, when I ordered it - the sales guy initially ticked the Front Parking sensors - thinking that's what I meant. Seems like it's a new "thing" on Skodas - seems to be only available on Octy and Fabia 3. Looks like, not great take up of it, here. (Maybe sales are not even sure what it is!) It wasn't on any of the Octys there either.

I remember when the old "personal importing" game was on, that Southern Ireland was a "no no" if you wanted to order a VW with a sunroof, it is really up to what the official importers had agreed to, and that would be determined by customer research. Now up here in Scotland, we only see the sun once a year (I think), but we seem to love sunroofs and convertibles - isn't life strange?

See you have the Front Assist Radar there lesmond - how's it behaving so far ? ?

Look forward to hear your experiences with the car.

Cant say I've noticed it at all, I'm not one for driving to close really, or try not to  :notme:

I am annoyed with all the mirrorlink stuff, in that none of it will work with my Iphone and some of the other things require me to buy the smartgate box ( about £100)

OK, man! I hear yer pain!!  By pure fluke - I held back from ordering the Bolero - the Swing radio is standard on the "top" Style level here. I'll be well happy if the Google Maps sat-nav voice prompts come over the bluetooth - as they do on my current Lidl radio in the old Passat. Also using iPhone - a 5.

I don't do the miles that I used do. I would imagine all of that making life easier in the UK with better road network than here. I find I just want minimal distractions on the road, now. Often have the radio off - just to listen to the noises in my head :-)

Hence my interest in the radar - warn me of "incoming", when I'm not paying attention!!  :dull:  :D

Yes - VAG seem more directly involved in the business here now (rather than local importers calling the shots) - but still they do a lot of dabbling in changes and options. My last dealing with Ford - and it still seems the same - whatever you guys get in the UK - we also get here. But VAG still limit and control availabilities here. I imagine part of it is to do with our double tax system on cars here (Registration tax based on base car value - and options are included in that figure - and then VAT on top of the whole lot - grrrr)

Dithane, yes even in UK VW now is the official importer of VW products, it used to be a famous guy called Rolland "Tiny" Rowland - not a lot of people know that! ( think Lonrho )

Countries like Holland also have nasty taxes that mean no cars typically get fitted with ICE as that is treated as a luxury product, showrooms tended to have a sizable display of ICE from likes of JVC etc.

There are also some "proper" taxes applied to new cars in some countries - for instance Sweden, which made it a very good country to import from as the cost of the "metal" pre-tax was very low.

I am going to follow this Mirrorlink thing closely, so my first step is buying a Sony Experia Z3 compact as apparently they work! Only hope for iPhone users is the rumoured change to a combined 'Smartlink' system which may be a software upgrade.
