Octi vRS clutch pedal query

Featured Replies

While driving my octi vRS today I went to change down a gear but when I pressed the clutch pedal it didn't let me put it into gear, i lifted off the pedal but the pedal only came up about 1-2inches from the floor. I pressed the pedal a couple of time but it refused to lift back to its normal position. I managed to put my foot behind the pedal and lift it backup and after that it worked fine..

Is there anything I can check? should I be looking forward to hydrolic failure?

The infamous master cylinder problem, should be fixed under warranty. This seems to be a common at this time of year.

What year is your car? It sounds like it might be the clutch master cylinder - a known fault characterised by the clutch pedal sticking in the down position, often in cold weather. The part has been modified and a number of members, myself included, have had their car's clutch master cylinders replaced under warranty.

Ooops, beaten by Manny - but the same answer. :D

Ooops' date=' beaten by Manny - but the same answer. :D[/quote']

I think we both hit the submit button at the same time.

My car is an 03. If it's a warranty item I shall ring the garage 1st thing in the morning. I hope it doesnt pack up soon, I'm going on holiday this friday and will probably be doing about 1500 miles

Does the clutch start to get heavy prior to the failure of the master cylinder, mine definately feels heavy compared to when I got it, mentioned it to the dealers but got the usual ' can't find anything wrong' answer......it always seems like you virtually have to go on trial to prove that there IS actually something wrong, it's funny how many deaf mechanics there are and all employed by main dealers

No the clutch pedal did not get heavier before it happened.
