Glovebox rattle

Featured Replies

Has anyone else experienced a rattle coming from the glovebox area?

It's particularly noticeable when accelerating in 2nd ot 3rd gear on bumpy roads. The reason why I think the rattle is coming from the glovebox area is that it seems to disappear when I apply pressure to the glovebox door, when it is already closed.

I've taken the car to the dealer to take a look, and they told me they've tightened fixings etc, but the rattle is still present. Any ideas how it can be fixed? It's driving me nuts.

Are you sure its not something inside the glovebox rattling?

As a temporary measure to prove its coming from the door, you could add some small pieces of felt/rubber/plastersine where it mates with the dashboard to provide a constant pressure against the door & locking mechanism.

Yes definitely not something inside the glovebox - I've been driving around with nothing in there for weeks to make sure it's not the contents rattling around. Thanks for your temporary measure suggestion - I'll look at giving it a go and see what happens.

Door draught sealer is stickybacked and comes on a roll, very good for this kinda job.
