anyone fitted body mouldings

Featured Replies

Noticed a very small dent around the shopping trolley area on the n/s door

Going to see about getting it pulled out althougj it's very small but thought about body mouldings to either cover it of it can't be pulled or to prevent future incidents

Does the kit come with a template of how high to stick them

Or can some one measure how high they sit from the bottom of the door please if you have them fitted already

Also do the sit level or at a slight angle

Thanks in advance

All I know from experience is that the dealer fitted ones don't work.Because of the curvature of the door there isn't any real way to fit them or any height that will protect the door properly. My car had them fitted from new and it looks like its done ten rounds with Evander Holyfield. If you fit them at the nearest optimum point for protection ,they will be sat so high up they will look utterly ridiculous.Essentially all they really are is a styling accessory.Believe me,if you could see my car........its depressing how mostly useless they are, because 9 times out of ten you will find that its not the trolley damage you have to worry about its the aggressive opening of car doors onto your bodywork by other drivers that inflicts the worst and most regular heavy damage. As a test, drive to your local supermarket and line up a trolley handles end then front end with one of your doors...then you'll see how useless a single height set of body mouldings are.

Cool thank you got a guy in Loughborough who is going to pull the dent and I'm ordering mouldings just to break the door up a little bit so measurements would be appreciated

I'll pm you my email address

Working late tomorrow but I'll see what I can do for you. I treated myself to a boot lip mould that sits on top of the bumper, imstructions said I need special skoda glue and special skoda templates and of course a skoda trained techie. Off to motor factors for a tube of tigerseal tomorrow lunchtime and tried the mould on the bumper and funnily enough the bumper is shaped just right.

dont bother with the glue

i didnt on mine and its sticks just fine

make sure its clean and dry and if possible warm

Oh right, fair enough, the double sided tape looks a little thin thats all.

How did you get the wax off the paint before sticking it down?

Well I heavily detailed the car not long after picking it up

Few alcohol wipes across that area stuck it down and hoped the following day it would still be there (only kidding)

Little not of masking tape on each end overnight in the garage

Don't worry about the tape being thin its very sticky
