oil for skoda octavia tdi '02

Featured Replies

hi all,

newbie here and my first post.

I bought a Skoda Octavia estate last year and am really enjoying it.

However I have noticed the oil has gone right down and need to top it up. The previous owner had done the service and put in Triple QX 5w 30.

All simple you may think! Buy oil, top up and job done.

But the rating on the label in the service book says ACEA C2 and suitable for Citroen, Peugeot and Renault engines. Hmmm.....

Surely it should have this in it which is C3?

Handbook states VW 505 00 or VW 500 00 which is neither of the above!

I know that mixing different oil is a bad idea so would it be ok to put the same stuff that is in already or should I just change the oil and filter (due in August btw) using correct oil and rating?

Thanks in advance for any help.
