Nice one on the new section! I saw the bike thread had been moved and thought someone had been upset! :D

It'll be nice to have space to move so to speak, there we're a lot of tangled conversations in the other thread with various different discussions going on in the one thread.

Bang tidy!

Shiny.

Just especially to make me green since I don;t have one any more.

I've never had one, but I've got a desire to do a big touring route on one. Like the Canadian or US roads... I'm not sure how I'll ever get to do it. Missed the boat on license tests on any size = any size. I think if I learnt here I'd be dead in a week, given how I ride a push bike; like captain bloody america, on a crusade against all car owners who should be embarrassed about what they are doing... Do the same when walking, those guys, you know, it's been on amber since before you pulled away, now it's red and you're still going ... well so am I

Oh and I'm still working on the name ;) Fubar to thank, so he can have first dibs on a better name.

Spot on! Cheers!

Colin, you can still do a direct access course as you're over 24. That would allow you to ride any bike (:

Also. People seem to think theyd be dangerous, but sometimes its not as bad as you think, the danger is real on a bike and you havent got that sense of safety in the form of a cage

Colin you are a true gent, cheers!   :sun:

As fabiamk2SE said, you can do the big boy test still :D You have to be another Briski(y) Biker now! You can do it as a set course, either in one block or over a time period to suit. 4 tests in total I think? CBT, Theory, mod1 and 2 (off and onroad elements).

Thanks Colin :)

Thanks for the new section Colin.

If it's a desire you have to do the test, do it. The urge only gets stronger :D

I can recommend Bikesafe as a local company:

http://www.bikesafe-sheffield.co.uk/

That's who I used many years ago. Keep in mind you cant actually take a bike test in Sheffield (due to the tram tracks) it has to be Rotherham or Chesterfield but they arrange all that for you (well they did for me). They also offer a free assessment which is good to have a go around the car park for an hour or so. At the very least you can go and do your CBT which you have to do as part of the full test anyway. After completing that you will want to continue and pass the full test for sure B)

It's interesting taking the theory test if you haven't done one before.

As already said you will surprise yourself about how reserved you will be on a bike. It's quite common to think you will kill yourself but trust me you wont and you will regret not doing it sooner.

Come and join us

As said you can do a DA course to get a license on anything although it wouldn't be the best idea to jump from a GS500 to a GSXR1000

They are extraordinarily addictive. I've not ridden a bike now for 10yr and I still miss it lots.

That means you must be coming up to the 'born again' point :D The likes of the ER6F and SV650 etc are great all rounders without too much crazy.

Too right mate.

Not scary fast, but quick enough to enjoy the roads.

Plenty to be getting on with, but wont try to kill you haha.

I'd already decided it would be a BMW F800GT

But I dream of filling the garage with 90s classics like the first Fireblade, ZX7R, carbed R1, 912 etc

+1 for Bike Safe in Sheffield. I did my CBT with them, unfortunately I don't have the £££ to finish off the test just yet :(
