Rats or mice!

Featured Replies

Been moving house and garage the past few weeks, I've got two Autoglym detailing bags and a lifeshine bag as well. On top of that I've got a bag full of detailing sponges from the group buy.

They've been in a strorage unit for less than 3 weeks and most of it is ruind!

The bag of different applicators and sponges is pretty much a bag of fluff now and they've have a good go at my detailing bags as well!

What a waste!!!

Mice always leave droppings....Are there any?

Thats a shame, every now & then I see an ickle field mouse get into my garage. Could never find where it was going until I went to get my heavy duty boots out the other week. Pesky thing was sleeping in the boot, it had ripped out all of the liner & filled it with straw, lol.

I regularly get mice in my garage. I leave traps down all the time, caught one earlier in the week, about the fourth this year.

WIll be mice. they attached and destroyed my black and green pads from the group buy, I was somewhat annoyed! and yes, you are likely to see numerous 'presents' across all of your surfaces

Such a shame indeed guys.... never had this issue personally;

Sounds like a decent shelving/storage solution may be required...

My boots were on my work bench, little blighters will find a way to climb if need be.

They can climb anything, the lesson I've learnt is to get a sealable box!

Yep, a few droppings but only very small.

I was thinking about getting one of them lockers and bolting it to the wall so it's sealed and well secure.

Abit gutted more than anything, most of it went straight in the bin. :(

There's some metal free standing shelving going for 20quid this weekend,at b&q combine with them plastic boxes with lids and your sorted.

Yeh it'll be mice, you generally don't realise they've cracked everywhere at first as it's that small, then you start to feel dirty and reach for the bleach and brillo pads

It was only in storage, the garage at my house is fine, so don't need to do much els.

All in all, about £150 worth so not the end of the world, just very frustrating.

Perhaps those Chinese sponge pads had something else in them ;)  :giggle:

I live in the country and up to 5 years ago, we had issues with mice (garage/shed/roof). I found Neosorexa (poision) very good. I made a "hopper" of a piece of 4inch drain pipe about 12-18 inches long screwed to a peice of wood so the pipe would lay flat on the floor without rolling. In to that I fixed a 1.5inch pipe vertically, with "teeth" cut in to the bottom end so the bait can be eaten. As they eat from the bottom, it refills . You can then fill the vertical tube and leave were the dropping are. Keep the hopper filled to the top and visit regularly. If it's gone done, something is eating it. Once the hopper remains constant, then problem is gone (for now).

Since a pic is worth 1000 words, i basically made on of these

Nightmare scenario buddy - the little blighters will have a right cosy wee nest/layer sorted now!

Something I will need to check on in my new place; as the house and garage backs onto a large wooded area....

Yep :(

I'm lucky my neighbours all have cats I suppose so my garage at home is fine. Still going to invest in some shelving and plastic boxes i suppose. Will keep the garage nice and tidy anyway.

Just make sure they have lids!

Sounds good mate.

Indeed.... I have just got some nice sturdy shelving from Costco which I cannot wait to get sorted!

I will build them this weekend once the electrician is finished installing additional sockets and LED lighting.

As a benefit of just moving house - I also bought some good storage boxes which are ideal for detailing supplies too.... and they have lids Kyle ;)
