I can't wait to get it on the road.. however the fear of stalling because of only driving diesels since passing my test is bothering me somewhat.. also 16inch alloys look a bit small on the Octy estate. ps its not a new shape octy but a 53 reg (im not that rich!)

Don't know how long you've been driving but you know how to drive, get the biting point and feed in some power (carefully!). Anyway, I'll admit to stalling cars even after some 23 years of driving  .

Enjoy the new toy and welcome  Yellow rules! ;)

Nice to see another Octavia driver joining in the site. Goes some way to balance out these youngsters in Fabia VRS's

Nice to have another vRS Estate member join the fold, and in Yellow too, don't see many of those around!!. Anyway welcome to the site, you will find loads of things you can do to your beloved Skoda on here, this site has cost me a small fortune!!. You are right about the alloys looking a little on the small side, just changed mine to the 17" version (see piccy) which does make it look somewhat meaner.

Youngsters.................I'm almost..................................... :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I like yellow too.

If I was rich I would have one in yellow.

Mmmm

Well you will find plenty of info on this forum.

Welcome

Sarah

Welcome :wavey:

Its quite difficult to stall an Octy vRS, it will pull away from idle if you are careful enough with the clutch.

If you want a fast pull away give it 2000rpm, bring the clutch up smoothly and at the same time push the accelerator progressively to the floor - if you get it right (and avoid wheelspin - which is more difficult than it sounds) the car will leap away :D

Welcome. Nice choice. I agree with you on the wheels hence why I binned mine immediately :)

I'm sure i'll get used to a petrol again in time! it'll be the quickest car ive driven to date. Thanks for the advice, i'm going out late at night for a test drive to get used to it before I have to do the work run in the morning. Still not got it yet hopefully end of the week :)

Also im one of these 'youngsters' at only 22 :) - Just need something bigger than a Furby!

I cant comment on the price of insurance... it pains me too much....

Also does anyone know where I can get the 17's from? Do Skoda stock them? I'm guessing they cost and arm and a leg as official parts tend to.....

Not meaning to be an 'old stick in the mud' but isn't the estate VRS fitted with 16" rims rather than 17" for a good reason....Surely Skoda would have fitted the 17" as standard like on the hatchback VRS if they felt it was the best for performance???

Charles.

You old stick in the mud :D

I don't think we've ever had a definitive answer on this one but yes the estate is fitted with 16s as std. I've run mine for over 25k miles on 18s with no problems. Apart from latterly with **** quality replica wheels which I've now binned in favour of a set of 17" BBS ones.

Unless you're in the habit of carting wardrobes around every day for a living I don't think there's a problem.
