Loading personal POI into Amunsdsen

Featured Replies

Recently got a 2015 Octavia with Amundsen

It claims to have the ability to load POI into it but does not give much detail, it sees the SD card in SD2 and the USB stick but no files, have tried every format TYRE can generate.

Anyone know how to do it and what format the files should be in.

Thanks for the link, tried it the other night while sat in a hotel room in Luxembourg and when I put the USB stick into the car it read the points.

Process is a bit slow as you have to save point by point and they are saved in the destination memory rather than as a POI category , as I used to do with TomTom, but far easier than sitting in the car programming destinations.

Avoids the wife saying "why didn't you programme all the destinations in before we left"

Hello All,

Sorry to hijack this thread but has anyone managed to get personal poi onto the Amundsen via the Skoda My Destination portal (http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/?appVIN=&appLanguage=en-GB)?

I have downloaded the pocketgpsworld speed camera files as .asc (having also tried .csv and .gpx) and they are uploaded successfully to web portal as you can see from picture 1, but when I try and save so I get the zip file to extract onto second sd card I get an error message (picture 2).

I'm assuming it's something to do with file names and when I have .ASC in capitals I do get a zip file when saving but there is nothing on there that can be imported as a .vcf file I think into the Amundsen and also number of destinations shows as 0 unlike the examples in picture 1 where thousands are listed (eg mobile 7099).

I know audio warning is not possible like on my tomtom PND but it would be nice to have a visual warning on the Amundsen, any help gratefully received as this is driving me mad.

Best

@Brucey - though I'm not familiar with this, the error message might indicate that one of the names (or possibly the content) might include a semi-colon where the processing doesn't expect it. Since the semi-colon is special to the database engine (we can see that they are using the SQLLite database, which is poor web security, really, but that's another issue), it might be that which is causing the thing to get upset.

Maybe check the data for any ";" characters in titles/names, or try smaller sets to start with and work up to the whole lot - that way it might work for small sets and suddenly start having a problem and you'll know it's with the last set added incrementally.

Not a lot of help, but maybe something to check.

On pocketgpsworld, there is a page listing satnav compatibility with their database (including factory systems).

Amundsen isn't.

Put pocketgpsworlds app CamerAlert on your phone.  This uses the same database and the warnings can then be bluetoothed to your Amundsen.

Thanks KeithFearnley and camelspyyder, not checked this page for a while.

Coincidentally I downloaded CamerAlert the other day as I had to replace TomTom 1000 with a new Go 6100 as the new devices don't allow PGPSW cameras to be used, I agree CamerAlert is a good alternative and hopefully Apple lift their restrictions so the app can be further improved under iOS 9.

It fails to read the first line of the file, headings, so delete that line and it loads the file
