Das 6 Pro Plus is staring at me....

Featured Replies

Always enjoyed cleaning every motor ever had (since early 80's)and thought the end result was a gleaming example of how it should be done.(how wrong I was ).

Favourite products ranged from Turtle wax,(ZIP) Simoniz, Carplan(t-cut), Duraglit and wire wool.

Things have changed a little since then and through forum reading and experimentation the results have consistently had greater reward.

Currently have ,Candy White and Metallic Black motors both in need of some degree of paint correction.

Never been brave enough to invest in a random orbital polisher until now.

After reading several informative posts by others on here (thanks)I'm comfortable with the prep process and ready to delve into the world of using a machine.

Advice is very much appreciated here, is it wise to buy something to practise on first? ie quick visit to the scrappy?

There are a myriad of cutting compounds/polishes as well as applicators to choose from.

As the Black motor has some nasty scratches I'm presuming you use a more abrasive compound with a pad to suit?

The kit purchased has Megs 105 and 205 with Hex Logic 102 and 104 pads. What speed setting would one use to begin with to try to reduce the effect of those scratches? Apologies for the fifty questions!

Going to give it a go this weekend as it has been staring at me in the lounge all week.

Cheers.

Do you prefer it to the AB 21 Ste?

Hi Ben,

Yes - the throw on the DAS Pro plus is smaller at 15mm - so it feels a bit smoother to run; albeit nowhere near as smooth as the Flex VRG.

....plus I like the blue body of the DAS PP machine more than the bright orange AD-21.

The longer mains cable (6m) is also quite helpful compared with AD-21 - but not a big issue, as such.

Correction on the AD-21 and DAS PP forced rotation designs is very easy though.

Both are extremely capable machines

Thanks for the comparison Ste. I have the AD21 and don't think it's a bad machine but I find myself longing for the Flex haha. I think it's time to sell up and get one!

Apologies to the OP for taking your thread a little off topic.

Back on topic.

Always start with the least aggressive combination first so for you it would be M205 on white.

If need to step up go to the orange pad with M205, then if needed some more 105 on white and then 105 on orange.

If you try 205 first that's pretty safe and you will struggle to do damage.

I would go speed 4 on 205.

Hope that helps?

On speeds this may be worth your while as you get started.

I won't go into polish breakdown diminishing vs SMAT like the Megs, but also look for articles on the two polish types.

Cheers Sparkly, food for thought. Bit of a science is this!

Is the combination of Megs 105/205 the right way to go or should other products be considered?  Cheers

Just bought one as my second stage polisher, so I could retire my original das6 to sealant only duties. I like the pro plus a lot!!

Good to hear consistent feedback on this model....

Thanks for sharing Jason
