Transfer from modded Freelander to standard Fabia - insurance increases!

Featured Replies

Hi Dan...had a shock yesterday when I transferred my insurance from a modded Freelander HSE to a standard Fabia Estate (in the interest of economy) and my insurance went up £115!

The Freelander is group 25, as standard, and the Fabia 12-ish....shouldn't that mean the cost goes down?

I'd like to understand why it's more, if poss...as an economy drive this isn't sitting well with my OH.

I am guessing the insurance for the Freelander is with a modified car specialist, so less interested in more run of the mill cars. For normal unmodified cars its usually cheaper to stick with the main providers.

Both with Adrian Flux...in my naivety I thought that having sold my Freelander I could just change the insurance to cover the Fabia...which I did but at an added cost...not expecting that...

Hi,

As mentioned, we are a modified specialist so we do have more markets for modified vehicles. Therefore if your policy was with one of our modified specialist schemes, moving to a standard car may be harder for our underwriters to find a market for.

If you can PM me your details I will certainly check this out though.

Kind regards,

Dan.
