thanks for the offer mate but has to be a mk2 golf(atlas grey)

Kenny, I'd mod the A4 as

a) you obviously want to. :)

B) the right golf may come along when you can afford it, some time down the road.

i would say mod the A4 but ill keep an eye out for a mk2 in the area

thanks mate

a) yip your right ;) just feels like the car(handling, brakes and taction could handle more and still feel like a standard car)

B) i know what your saying, usual will happen, when i spend the money on mods a golf will turn up

cheers, appreciate the help and advice

Mod the A4 kenny. Running 2 x cars is a nightmare tbh and one of them will end up sat on the drive / garage for 90% of its time which is a bit of a waste imo.

Well I may be biased, so you know what i'll say, but i dont think you'll ever get the driving involvement from an A4 that you'll get from a Mk2.... ;) and i know you know this from experience :D

i know what you mean, when i had my octy i still had my old mk2 and it only made it out on dry weekends and sometimes during the week :(

will maybe mod the A4 and if i have any cash left find a mk2 later on

will think about it

Modify, you will only have one lot of insurance and tax to pay.

I went through this thought process, and finally bit the bullet and started modifying. Should be complete on the 11th November .....Jabba day

its looking like its slightly in favour of modding the A4

I think your budget for the listed mods is prehaps a little optimistic. I'd price the mods as follows:

Remap -

im not sure about the cat replacement etc. i was after a miltek exhaust for my car as ive spoken to a fair few and everyone highly recommends it for the A4. not sure they do a turbo back yet. i really dont want much change inthe exhaust note, but i do want larger tail pipes as the standard ones look pretty poor tbh.

as you said Eddy the DV will need changing too (forgot about that) ;) so will maybe swap the cruise for that. im really hoping for around 220bhp from this work as the car has a standard 190bhp so would be a bit less willing to spend all that cash for much less

A catback exhaust will do nothing for performance, all you will get is a different sound and bigger tailpipes. If the tailpipes are the only concern go to a powerflow dealer or similar and just get new tailpipes welded on for around

sorry eddy this may be a daft question but was is a 4bar FPR and how much will it cost?

will a CAT back show no gains at all? :(

thanks for the info mate, ill be going the custom code phase 2 route dont think there is anything else i should do?

Sorry my fault, 4bar FPR is a an uprated fuel pressure regulator. Standard one is 3bar so it's kinda like fitting bigger injectors as it increases the amount of fuel the injectors can flow. It allows for a safer margin on the remap (e.g. injectors aren't maxed out)and also gives better increases, particularly torque. They cost around

Couldn't you sell the A4 and get an S3? solve all the problems

Don't know what sort of figures (price) you would be talking though

yeah i quite like the S3 but being honest i like my A4 much more and i always wanted a proper Quattro and not a haldex 4wd.

i know what your saying tho, would make sense
