Race Fuels

Featured Replies

I was just having a look on the TSR performance website , i noticed they sell Racing fuel , anyone use/d the stuff...are there any benefits......i suppose i'd need an SPS3 to be able to run the fuel { if it was worth it}.

Steve

We run some stuff in the Imprezza although it works out at

Is that less or more than

4.55 litres to a gallon, so substantially more than a

'bout an extra 35 quid to fill the tank then.......Think I'll Pass!:D

Steve - Any excuse to try and be beat my car, eh? ;) :P

Can anyone confirm the short term benefits of putting a couple of litres of unleaded in with a full tank of diesel? ;) Long term bad things need not be mentioned.

Ever-so-slightly cheaper?

Only in terms of better short run performance, not budget related. ;)

Forgot to add it's evil stuff if you get it on your skin too.

but is there an performance gain without altering timing/boost etc??

i wouldn't expet any but wouldn't mind ing told i'm wrong about it :)

No idea mate.

The imprezza is tweaked to ****.

hows the bettle coming along?

hows the bettle coming along?

:( It's not.

Mate who is the partner on the project has a new bird so is a bit absent at the moment.

We need to sort out the rear suspension as we need to build a space frame for it and my mate has all the CAD stuff to design it.

go give him a slap.

Just rig up a system to inject it straight into the intake manifold. No nasty pump damage that way... :P

was looking at a few additives at Santa Pod a few weeks back while there was a jap show there. didnt really get any idea of prices or owt but did wonder if it would boost normal unleaded to something worth using. like 99Ron or just over.

Spinndrift - something you'll find interesting. i was chatting to a guy who was working on a splitty in the pit area, apparently 2 of them worked for Prodrive while the guy who was waste deep in the engine bay was a gearbox guy for a works rally team. the splitty looked like a nail but would run 13sec 1/4 mile times with the "sport" box they were fitting. the chap i was talking to ran a scooby powered beetle only it was no where near standard looking.

Two cars same software same day...

With some tweaking some 107 ron got about 20bhp more than a 97 shot, but it's bleeding expensive, smells great apparantly, costs lots...bear in mind on track you will consume a tank in half day(ish) maybe a bit more if your going for it.

Was it a black one with an intercooler in the wing?

I was thinkin of 76 Cool Blue 106ron

This was 76 Cool, don't forget you would need to get to the circuit as well and carrying a oil drum of 106 octane fuel is not technically legal IIRC.

Does high octane fuel have a lower flash point than normal gasoline?

107 RON Should be safer to transport as it's less likely to suffer from knocks.....

.groan..

I'll get my coat....

no, the splitty was kind of blue but very faded and rusty and the beetle was yellow. imagine a full on drag beetle and your there.

on this higher octane subject... does anyone use a booster in normal unleaded to give a decent ron increase?

with super and optimax going up in price i was wondering if unleaded with a booster would be more cost effective.
