Featured Replies

Why do i keep ending up looking at laguna 3 diesels while trying to find a car as practical and cheap to run as my mk1octy????

Your insane. Does that help?

I had a laguna 2 once it was a lovely car to drive....until it went wrong.

Exactly.. theres a veerry long list of 5hizzle that has gone wrong with the II. But owner reviews on the III seem to be alot better. In terms of size, space and spec seem pretty decent and pricing in my budget range sems to get a bit more spec and younger than than with octavias, passats etc at same price area - much lower milage than vag foe the money..

I had a MKIII laguna estate 1.5 dci on a 08 plate and not one single thing went wrong with it. Apart from being a bit under powered it was brilliant and would have another in a heartbeat.

Right theres one on way to work not too far away on a 09 plate. Gonna go for a drive and hope i hate it... i dont like french clutch/gearboxes, bit ive only driven petrol setups to base that on..

Ok, you're insane.

Serisly, I've never driven a Renault that wasn't rusty, unreliable or both.

Yep - insane.

Friend had a Laguna diesel estate.  Lovely thing to drive when it ran properly.

Although it never actually broke down, so much kept going wrong with it (especially electrics) that he got rid of it after less than two years.

Know a nightmare of a story of a colleague's Laguna which was practically possessed by the devil - dealership refused to work on it!

What age was it? I had a laguna II and it did have electrical gremlins but renault up'd their game with the III and sorted all the issues out but unfortunately didn't make any money with it due to the already bad rep so dropped it from their line up.

I sold my MK I octy for the laguna which I still thing was a good move but then I had a mental lapse and traded the laguna in from a mazda 6, worst move ever, I still wish I had of kept the Laguna a couple more years.

Sorry, can't be sure.  I think it was 2007 and almost certainly a Laguna II

See this is the problem the horror stories mostly seem to be with 2, which is an awful pile of turd. But the 3 doesnt seem to have a rep any worse than mk2 octy...

is the mk3 the one they did the coupe version in?

Aye, tis the newest of them

Actually not a bad looking car and for the brand whore in me, they do a Bose version :)

I think its looks and wide opening octy style lift back boot is drawing me in... i love the look of mazda 3 and 6, but while boot space reasonable in them access via the saloon boot opening is crap... i generally like the styling of renaults but reliabilty and feel puts me off. Get the feeling ive become smitten... pending finding the warty genitels when im up close with one of em....

I'm not sure you're insane at all.  I've got an open mind about other manufacturers and to be honest, all the French cars I've owned have been no more trouble than any other make.  This one looks quite nice,

Have a drive and see what you think.  I remember being at the UK leg of the Renault World Series when this shape of Laguna came out.  There were a few on display and they seemed well put together at the time. One reason I looked elsewhere is that I didn't want a diesel and that the petrol version wasn't fast enough but they were an interesting option with the four wheel steering etc.

You're not insane, that means you have no choice as to your actions.

If you choose a Laguna diesel you are an imbecile.

Terrible reliability. Been there, done that. Never again!

Aww but could they have gotten any worse? Up to you entirely as you will have to run it, you could be a lucky one.. or unlucky some cars (all brands) have good and bad I've found. Just some more than others.

The coupe is a cracking looking thing...

Yep. Now i couldnt go the coupe route due to family transport requiremnets etc.. but the saloon/hatchback 4/5 door is pretty handsome too...
